Boise State projected as BCS No. 1
ESPN ^ | 10/11/10

Six weeks into the college football season and one week before the first Bowl Championship Series standings are released, there are 13 unbeaten teams in all three polls.

So who'd be the BCS' No. 1 if the standings came out today? Would it be consensus No. 1 Ohio State, the top team in The Associated Press, USA Today and Harris polls? Or maybe fellow unbeaten Oregon, ranked No. 2 and earning first-place votes in all three polls?

According to the projection of ESPN's Brad Edwards, it's consensus No. 3 Boise State.

According to the projections, the No. 1 Buckeyes would place fifth in the BCS standings, percentage points behind Oklahoma.

1. Boise State .913
2. Oregon .863
3. TCU .854
4. Oklahoma .8425
5. Ohio State .8421
6. LSU .782
7. Nebraska .777
8. Auburn .744
9. Michigan State .642
10. Alabama .634

Edwards projects the unbeaten Broncos, the highest-ranked team from a non-automatic qualifying conference, as the top team in the standings by a comfortable margin, followed by Oregon.

Hmmm, why didn’t you mention U of Miami, who was a powerhouse when Ohio State scheduled them about 5 years ago?

LOL

If you want the “Big Boys” to come play in your house, build a stadium big enough to at least pay for the trip.(and while you’re at it, get green turf, nobody wants to play on that blue turf either)

While....I think Boise is a very fine, well coached team. And they whipped the Sooners in an exciting bowl game...

They need to play in a better conference. And I think they know that.

Same with the Horned Frogs.....

I'd love to see...TCU, and Boise State play in the Big 12.

In my husbands never ending quest to leave the socialist republic of WASHINGTON, he has been offered a position in Boise/Kuna area. We are going to be visiting the area soon. What is it like, It has been about 20 years since we have been to Boise. Pros/Cons of living there, how is the gang situation??

Boise State? Yeah...they’ve played some real POWERHOUSES so far. Toledo, New Mexico State, San Jose State...a killer schedule. The Buckeyes play Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Penn State through the rest of the season, just a little more of a test than Wyoming or the Virginia Tech team Boise beat 33-30. Sorry BCS, but nonsense won’t sell.

Oregon State would have beaten TCU if TCU hadn’t decided to have the roof of Cowboys Stadium opened on a miserably hot day. Pretty chicken-shit if you ask me.

Had I been Mike Reilly, I would have told TCU that the game would not start until the roof was closed and the A/C turned on.

UR right ref WAC... This BCS Boise thing seems to be based/justified on the belief that ‘in any one game...” and the ‘underdog’ mentality. Hopefully, this will shake out before season’s ending standings.

Yes, the Big Ten just might be a “Man’s League” as compared and therefore i suggest the SEC must be a “Pro League”. Anyone surviving an SEC schedule undefeated has to be more than dam good, they have to be lucky.

i just don’t know how teams that play a majority of ballgames against Homecoming-type teams can brag about a ‘perfect’ season.

All the big conference cheerleaders made the same arguements against Boise State during their undefeated season in 06’. You would think winning the Fiesta bowl would silence the critics but apparently not.

Air Force came within a hair of making Oklahoma a patsy at Norman a few games ago.
