The JFK Assasination was covered on and on and rightly so, but this coverage seems too much over the top.

What gives?

It was the best news I saw today. Turn the Chanel to Nancy Grace if you don’t like it.

No commercials at all either, so that’s a plus too. I don’t know if that’s beacuse I’m watching from Costa Rica... are you guys getting any commercials in the US?

Who cares about Chilean miners? Not me. Our own nation is going down the tubes and that affects more people than that incident. I really didn’t care if they lived or died. I’m indifferent to it. If they were Americans, my attitude would have been different. We have our own stuff to worry about.

Look at what's being said: Americans had a big hand in making this rescue. Americans designed the machinery and ran the drill that got through to the minors. One of the people hugging that first guy was an American.

Must really be enraging to the Kenyan thug and his dog Joe.

I think it is great....I have been watching all morning on a web site from The Guardian:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/blog/2010/oct/12/chilean-miners-rescue-live-coverage

It is quite an event. The president and his wife are there with each family to great each miner as he comes up.

It is all quite moving.

Is this not a Geraldo moment? Shouldn’t he be there, drawing stuff in the sand to describe things?

Seriously, it probably did me some good not to see politics for a night.

If something goes wrong they catch it live.

Ridiculous. There hasn't been much coverage before today. Men trapped half a mile under the earth for 70 days are finally making their trip to freedom. It's indisputably the most interesting thing going on on the planet right now. Now the culmination of a lot of hard work by a lot of smart people is at hand. 24 hour cable news channels, that often have nothing to cover, and are reduced to talking head shows, are covering a real live news event; a happy one to boot.

And you are whining? You can't live without Hannity reruns? Seriously? For real? This isn't Some kind of satire about curmudgeonly cranks?

I think it’s too much. I tuned in for the regular programming, and it’s wall to wall coverage of this.

I know it’s important to get these guys out, but does the coverage have to be CONSTANT? Occasional updates would have been more than sufficient, IMO.

Because we did this. Americans drilled the rescue hole and NASA help balanced the health issues for the miners. This is our victory.

Actually. The coverage has been quite useful. Tonight, I taught my 8 yr old to pray on her knees for people she’s never met, never will, and why it’s important to do so. Not only was she receptive, but enthusiastic to fell there was something she could do to help others.

I am proud of that, and proud of her.

Keep watching...maybe at 2am Carl Paladino will make a profane statement about the rescue!

Everybody wants to see what’s going to happen when the miner with the wife and mistress gets hauled out.

Probably going to need an emergency medivac.

This is huge news. It's being covered that way.

What's your problem?

I agree. Great story, but I didn’t need an entire night of it and have all the shows preempted. Isn’t it nice, all the insults and sarcasm you got here, just for posting your opinion? Lots of nice people here, but a large majority are surly wiseasses. This thread is a perfect example. I thought we were all on the same side, fighting the wiseass liberals.

I come here basically to find news, but I belong to a very nice online political community; a group of Independents, Republicans and Conservatives who treat each other with respect. You’d never see a thread like this. Very cliquey here too, but I don’t care about that. Like I said, I have an online political family elsewhere.

This non-USA politics coverage actually might attract some new viewers who could be educated before the election if they tune in again and hear more fair/balanced political coverage than say ABC, CNN, and my personal fav, MSNBC....
