I agree. I’m afraid I’m being self-absorbed but I was bored after about 10 minutes. It seems to be a distraction from the election as well as what Obama is doing to our country. This is an uplifting story, but in the big scheme of things, probably isn’t that important except to the families involved.
FOX lives for this type of drama. I would not mind them breaking in when the first miner is being pulled up, but this media circus has been going on all afternoon.
Fox has been that way since the days of the OJ Simpson SUV chase. But that’s why they made a TV remote, and I used it today, to watch anything but the trapped minors.

It’s pretty much an entirely positive story. We already know, without regard to what happens in the upcoming elections, that America is more or less hosed for the foreseeable future, so why not take a break from politics and economics?
I was irked too. Especially when they cut the all-star-panel short to go live with that lib Shep Smith.

The live coverage is because there are 33 separate rescues. Each with as much potential for problems (disaster) as the first. Each trip of the capsule has its own dangers. So they will cover until they are all out including the rescue workers.
The problem is the accessories, docs talking about PTSD, etc. And bit too much talking form the anchors.

OP - you are so correct... the over the top coverage is CRAP... The young producers of the news - Fox and others WORRY way too much about what the other stations are doing... so they Copy Cat - then the other does a Copy Cat and on and on and on... totally silliness...
How about breaking in with coverage WHEN SOMETHING SIGNIFICANT HAPPENS...? Oh that would take too much effort and some Cable Star would be offended and threaten to sue the cable channel for interrupting his/her program hour.
I got news for you juvenile Producers of Cable News Shows - WE DON’T WANT 24/7 coverage of every cough or utterance of anyone caught up in a tragic situation - NOT UNLESS IT IS A 9-11 equivalent event ... otherwise tell us the news - all the news - break in to cover essential aspects of a breaking situation - but STOP THE 24/7 non stop BORINGLY STUPID COVERAGE... Good Grief !!!!! The world will not stop spinning if we don’t see 22 hours coverage of the rescue capsule mechanism being pumped up and down .... GET A LIFE you silly juveniles ...
