“Independence Day” and “Armagheddon” both came out about the same time, both were big, dumb, special-effect heavy brain candy... but Armagheddon was at least likably dumb. ID was just irritatingly dumb.
I like ID because it was a blast of action and I’m a sucker for action shows - no plot necessary, just make things go “boom!”.
