He's out there... somewhere.
He is a man of mystery, and a master of disguise, forced to hide his true identity, driven by a fierce loyalty to Ole Miss and Rebels everywhere.
He's nobody's "mascot", but he is a symbol of love for all that is good about Ole Miss and an emblem of pride in how far we've come.
The Man In Black fights a tireless battle against absurdity, prejudice, furry plush animal mascots, and every other team in the SEC.

I saw that the Mascot had been changed to BEARS and honestly LAUGHED. Are there any bears even left in Mississippi?
The entire thing is totally idiotic!
...Vols fan ;-)
I doubt there has been a black bear in Mississippi for decades.
Go Rocky top!
We already have the equivalent at TTU called the Masked Raider and he/she rides a black stallion. My vote would be for a big fire ant or kudzu as the new mascot.
>> Are there any bears even left in Mississippi? <<
My understading is that none are “left” — in the sense that the original herd (or coven or whatever a group of bears is called) died out.
But in fact we now actually do have bears again, which the wildlife mavens have imported from Arkansas.
Did those damned crackers running Ole Miss even consider pressing 2 and asking our Hispanic brethren what they thought of the black bear? Or as the say in espanol, Oso Negro That’s got a certain ring to it. I think I’ll refer to them as the Ole Miss Oso Negroes from now on. GO NEGROES!!!
lol! somebody ought to tell the Col. about that one!

I think it’s a sloth of bears. Hmmmm....do you mean there could be some razorback bears in Mississippi now? Lol....
The plural would be ‘osos negros.’ ;-)
I don’t hablo much of that Ess pan yole. I’m American and took Latin in high school. I occasionally do order nachos bell grande though because they are El Cheapo.
