Football mom Cathy Brady says she is still in shock after a weekend brawl at Ivor Wynne Stadium that sent her husband to hospital with a severe concussion.
Brady and her husband John were watching son Matt a Hamilton Hurricanes defensive end play in an Ontario Football Conference semifinal against the St-Léonard Cougars Saturday evening when, with seconds left in the game, up to 20 St-Léonard players climbed into the stands behind their bench and began battling local fans.
Hamilton police claimed no one so far has wanted to file a formal complaint, but Brady says she told officers she wanted a St-Léonard player who accosted her charged.
Brady told The Spectator she was not beside her husband when the fighting began and did not immediately realize he had been knocked unconscious.
Raw unaired video captured by a local cable TV station shows a protracted and violent clash between the St-Léonard players and fans. At one point, a Cougars player clubs a spectator with a black plastic milk crate.
John Brady appears to be swarmed by a group of Cougars and is knocked out cold before falling to the ground. Moments later, a player stomps on a spectator.
