“We’re so happy to be getting off. Everybody’s been cheering and clapping,” passenger Fahizah Alim, 26, of Sacramento, said by cell phone.

Sounds like a suspect to me. Terrorist on cruise ships

IIRC, there was no power or running water on the Mayflower either. Not a single flushing toilet could be found. And the passengers and crew were stuck there for days till the wind finally blew them to shore.

I wonder how many of those passengers are talking to their lawyers right now? Physical and emotional suffering, yada yada. Probably going to cost Carnival a mint.

It was gross when the toilets weren’t working. What can you do?” Harlan said. “There were a lot of people getting smashed off warm beer.”

Warm beer and non-functional toilets can be a nasty combination.

On the noon news, KCAL9 aired the “first exclusive videos” taken by passengers from aboard the ship as events were unfolding.

The best video was their first sight of the U.S. Coast Guard cutter who initially came to their rescue. They sent out an inflatable filled with Coasties to — I guess — board the vessel and see what they could do.

The Coast Guard did a superb job all the way through and it makes a great story for Veterans’ Day.

Quote from AP warmed my heart:

...People on the decks and about 100 onshore cheered loudly as the ship reached the dock, while all along the harbor, tourists, joggers and fishermen stopped to snap photos. Lissa Letts of Overland, Kan., said she drove to San Diego to meet the returning ship to sell passengers T-shirts emblazoned with the phrase: "I survived the 2010 Carnival cruise Spamcation." Passengers snapped up the shirts at $20 apiece.

Good old American ingenuity! $20 a pop! 1563 miles one-way on a bet! Probably didn't bring enough!

"I survived the 2010 Carnival cruise Spamcation."
