We are rapidly becoming wireless (except for my beloved really good printer).
:)

Hmm, that was interesting. There seemed to be some questions (in the forum) about it working with my camera). However, I am sort of hoping to upgrade eventually anyway. A girl needs a better camera at some point. ;)

I guess I may have to do that. Didn’t think about it when I went with a Mac.

I hadn’t seen Eye-Fi before either so Yes, that is interesting, and handy. We’re due for a new camera too.hoping to do a Med anniversary cruise next year.

I do the old usb cable to download pics and Nope, no wireless printer here either.. but we went wireless early in the new Millenium, the way to go with laptops and such..

MY husband got a new wireless printer and I use it too if I’m just printing things out quickly, but for photos and good stuff, I use my good Epson large format printer and it’s not wireless. I’ll keep it until it dies (and with my luck it will die!) Hardware hates me. :)

My next one will be wireless, I don’t print photos at all, we upload all our stuff and then order copies online and get ‘em delivered .. I still need to get the HDTV connected to the net, I got the adapter, just need to mess with the settings. New technology is such fun, it’s real easy to work with if ya know what you’re doing or it’s idiot proofed. :-)

As you can tell from my original question, I must have idiot proof. :) My son is a good geek, but he does not do photos, so he didn’t know how to tell me to work around this. I’ve been doing photoshop for years, but Mac is new to me, and to be honest, I hate learning new stuff. I know, I know, but my brain is not so nimble anymore and I feel like, at my age, I have learn enough, I should be able to now be comfortable already knowing a FEW things and not have to uproot and relearn them every few years. :)

I hear ya.. I just went from Windows XP to Windows 7 .. it’s take awhile to get one’s bearings.. it’s easier to buy a new system sometimes.. heck most of the time.. lol

Hang in there, I used to use Mac way back when. They can do it all these days, part of the pain is updating software or having to reload it..

It’s been helpful that my son is a MacOphile, so he’s conversant. He just didn’t have a clue about photo stuff. Fortunately FReepres are mostly nice about this stuff. :)

Can’t help, I know nothing about Mac. If Picasa works on Mac you might try it.

a lot of cameras have an option of saving a jpg and raw file for each picture.

having the raw file is very useful when something beyond minor tweaks is desired, even if you don’t end up using that feature set for some years, it still is useful to have as data storage is so easy now.

I think mine will do that, but before I had no option for doing anything with RAW as I only had photoshop 7. Now, I will probably learn what to do with them. Thanks for the heads up. :)

Check out a Eye-Fi card. You can do a wireless transfer to your laptop, and even flickr and such, as you're taking pictures.

Haven’t used it myself; I have a Canon D20, that uses a CF Card, but apparently there is an adapter for using an SD Card in a CF Card camera.

I would love for it to be able to upload directly to my iPad, and have seen a video of a pro photog using his camera to upload directly to his iPad. Very nice, but it requires you to “Jailbreak” your iPad, which i don’t really want to do.

But it would work nicely with my laptop or iMac.
