This bear was shot November 15th 2010 with a crossbow in northeastern Pennsylvania (Pike County). 875 pounds live weight and 744 dressed, #2 in the WORLD and a new PA State Record. He missed the world record by 4 pounds
Note: The PA Game Commission is reportedly investigating the kill of this bear. Some folks claim the kill was fishy and that the bear was possibly a hand-fed tame bear. The Game Commission is expected to issue a news release in the matter.
Looks like the gall bladder was excised
I think it is hard to tell the difference bewteen Bear meat and Spotted Owl or Eastern Condor
And why does the state game commission continue to lie about there being no mountain lions in Pennsylania? Everyone knows they’re out there.
I know of bears being shot many times over many years with many different weapons.
Same for sharks, pigs, and American bad asses.
Pennsylvania Mountain Lion Spotted on Deer Cam
Guy knew the bear was there. Cousin saw it and called him. Bear was also tagged in New Jersey so it moved across the Delaware river in its jaunts. Here in New Jersey we will have the first bear season in 6 years.
Tame or not the bear was huge and was not a hoax.
Thanks for the appetizing picture. Looks great.
These scumbags killed a tame bear that probably walked up to them to get something to eat. They apparently knew where the bear was being fed and laid an ambush for an easy kill. They’re so incompetent it took nine shots to kill this noble animal. They tortured that bear to death. Bullfighting is more humane. These guys are cowards and lowlifes. Any true hunter would spit on them.
Or finger bones, if it was hand fed.... ;^)
Are there a lot of amputees in that area of Pa?
Geeze, where did they get all the hands to feed that bear...lots of handless people in that state..
Speaking as a PA hunter, I’m glad they killed that huge bear. Makes it safer for hunters AND non-hunters. As well as a whole buncha stew!!!
I backpack through western Sussex county often enough, and foolish enough to overnight alone and without a dog. 15 years ago a bear shredded my tent at 4 AM to get to my
Never ever seen any bear near this size, have seen some 550+ pounders that but the fright of hell in my eyes though.
Finally sanity returns and NJ will have a bear hunt this year after 6 years without, hopefully the numbers of hand fed cub orphans will not increase creating the scenario for this sham trophy kill to occur again in 15 years.
Whenever pictures like this show up, the game commission argues that it’s a captive mountain lion someone released into the wild. Then they continue the official line that MLs have been extinct in Pennsylvania since 1892.
They won’t admit it because acknowledging the existence of a protected species in the state would require them to spend money on protecting it. The GC is also afraid of an uproar from farmers. “OMG, my livestock r gonna die!!!”
Yeah I saw photos of this bear chasing the bison in Yellowstone.
Buffalo looked real scared and the bear looked real mean.
whatever loser...the bear was so freaking big that the bolts were not penetrating through the hide and fat to vital areas.
so save your “torture” talk for your PETA pals.
as to whether the “tame” bear walked up to them, that’s not likely. he may have been hand fed by some moron, whose scent the bear recognized, but he was not likely to walk up to a strange scent unless there was food involved
I may or may not have engaged in this hunt, but you can shove your judgments up your arse
hunters should be sticking together, not eating our own when there are enough people out there that want to ban our activity.
