Every society has unwritten rules that are enforced by its citizens, and strictly. They tend to change over time, but they are always there.

Girls in our society are taught all sorts of rules by the women and girls they meet. So it is time for a new rule to be added, for all females around the world.

Simple put, that all women and girls expect, demand, that all other women and girls carry a knife or other bladed weapon on their person when out in public, and that if attacked by a man, to cut him with it.

It truly needs to be “something that girls just do”. There is no place in the world that does not have a sharp piece of metal or even glass.

Admittedly, at first, when women cut men who attack them, some will be injured, or even killed. But many, many women are injured or killed right now, and achieve nothing in the process.

But when enough women start carrying bladed weapons, and start cutting men with them, there will be a momentous change.

A pause.

Men will pause before they attack a female, and in that moment, out of the fear of being cut, many men will decide to *not* attack. They won’t know which girls and women have knives, but it won’t matter, because they might. And that is enough.

It could change everything. Far fewer girls being grabbed by molesters. Far fewer rapes, even in the blur of alcohol by the rapist. Far fewer women beaten by their boyfriends and husbands.

It won’t end it all, but it could end a lot of it. And all that it takes is for some women to start carrying knives, and when asked why they are doing so by other women, to respond, “Carrying knives is just something that girls do.”

“Don’t you have a knife? You need one to cut a man if he attacks you. Here, I have an extra. I’ll loan it to you until you can get your own.”

“I would never go out in public without my knife. I’d just feel undressed.”

“All my daughters have their own knives. It’s the smart thing to do.”
