Under the applicable election laws, only the two top candidates will reach the run-off election.
The only way to avoid having to compete in the run-off election is for the first place candidate to finish with greater than 50% of the vote in the February 22, 2011 election. If that happens, the candidate wins outright.
Thanks, I was off on my timing. The primary will be a three man race - Davis, Meeks and Emanuel. The also-rans will drop out or have insignificant support (I include Ms. Mostly-Fraud in this list).
The runoff will be the most interesting. I’m thinking that Obamugabe will be true to his tribal instincts and toss Rahm undere the CTA bus.
