Sally Field auditioned for True Grit and was very disappointed that she didn’t get it. I think she would have been great.

Actually the 1941 Maltese Falcon was the 2nd remake.
In 1937, they did another version called Satan Met A Lady with Warren William and Bette Davis. 3rd time was the charm with Maltese Falcon.

Both of them were good. Lee Marvin was great in the 1964 version.

Well, if the remake comes out on cable in the next few years, and, should I have nothing better to do with my time, and only then, will I consider watching the raping of a true American Classic Movie.

TrueGrit is my MOVIE and I will not wavier. Likewise, I will defend My Country without pre-conditions.

Ditto to everything you said. I have absolutely no desire to see this movie.

Boy was Horace, wife was Enola.

“Don’t you know about germs?”

“No”

“Go wash, Gaspargo, you lose.”

“If every time I hear about a Texican drinking out of a hoof print...”

Hmmm, I’m not gonna get this one right but it’s something like, “I’ll shake his hand or buy him a Daniel Webster ceeegar.”

True Grit was the first movie I saw after returning from combat in Vietnam. Was on a 3 day pass visiting relatives in Knoxville, Tennessee. I was 20.

John Wayne in True Grit justified the carnage I inflicted on the NVA and Viet Cong when I was a tank commander on C26 in 2nd Platoon, C Troop, 3rd Squadron 4th Cavalry, 25th Infantry.

“You mean you wouldn’t load it wrong while in a state of drunkenness?”

I’ll just have to get you to show me how.

My all time favorite movie. I will see the new one, too. What the heck.

Are you goofy? I was referring to Mattie's line in the movie when her pistol misfired due to John Wayne loading it wrong. Some people are so frickin defensive they can't recognize a little kidding when they hear, or read, it.

BTW, I can, and do, know how to load any cap and ball revolver, including a Colt Dragoon, but would hesitate to load one when in a state of Rooster Cogburn type of drunkenness.

THANKS! I want to see the video when it is released. As long as it isn’t propaganda I enjoy movies for entertainment. It has always been claimed that when it comes to Communism most of Hollywood participates. They get rich and we get poor watching.

“If every time I hear about a Texican drinking out of a hoof print...”

I believe John Wayne said “Texas waddy”, not Texican.

And I haven’t seen that part of the movie in 41 years!

Love ya. You got them right. You are a TRUE-Gritter.

Now, how about this question: “What is the China Man's name?”

I’ll just have to get you to show me how was the next line in the movie. I was quoting it.
