"Merry Christmas!"
Merry Christmas to you! I'm building the water and house heating systems with a concrete thermal storage tank (about 700 gallons) and a few other modifications, BTW (one being collectors made with steel and tempered glass). ...only building the PV and wind systems, because the grid hookup is too far away (~ 2 miles or so). ...110 mph wind load and never really summer here at over 9,000 feet.

Buying a cell phone when you have no electricity shows a lack of planning. True. If she'd been a properly qualified gubmint economic planner, she'd never have discovered the orthogonal power of the cell phone to change her life and would have prioritized the need for microscopic (but critical) generating capacity accordingly. Stupid woman!
Africa's problems are largely due to lack of capacity for planning, right?
