Now We Know Which "Holiday" They Meant (Retailers Start "After Holiday Sales" on Dec 26)

Hanukkah may have ended over 2 weeks ago, Kwanzaa week may have just begun, and New Years may still be 6 days away, but major retailers have once again started their "After Holiday" sales on December 26.

Retailers that went to great lengths to avoid using the word Christmas, in favor of the more inclusive term "Holidays", now seem to not care that many holidays are still to come while others ended long ago.

Companies such as Barnes and Nobel as well as Old navy/Gap went to such extremes to avoid using the term Christmas that they ended up being listed as "Naughty" on the AFA's Naughty or Nice list that tracks retailers recognition of Christmas.

The admission may come every December 26, but don't be surprised to see mention of the 364 shopping days left until the next "Holiday".

Proof....they don't like Black people. And, it's against the law for anyone not to like Black people.

“Holiday” has become a cuss word for me when these schmucks use it instead of Christmas.

Leave it to liberals to make a controversy out of the word “Christmas.” I commonly count the H word used three to five times during a commercial cluster in football games.

Here, in Canada, December 26 is called “Boxing Day” — always has been. Boxing Day sales are a longstanding tradition.

This is almost as funny as all those global-warming idiots who had to rush to the Home Depot this weekend to get snow shovels.

Some of the sales in the US resemble a Boxing day before it’s all over with.

Some of these American firms say UNABASHADELY "MERRY CHRISTMAS" in signeage to shoppers here in Japan and other parts of Asia.

In the case of Japan, where it is about 1.5% to 2% Christian, these Western retailers who have ops here have "MERRY CHRISTMAS" all over the place.Nary a "Happy Holidays" which would simply "not compute" to the Japanese.

It is about time somebody do a Fox News story on this, and then corner the executives and ask them why they allow Merry Christmas in very small percentage Christian nations, but dont allow it in a contry like American with a vast majority of Christians.

I’ve always been a follower of the 12 days of Christmas, so a ‘Post Christmas’ sale for me would be on January 7. There is just too much be done in a single day.

The origins of the name aren’t clear — but, considering the crowds at the sales, we can’t rule out the possibility that the day was named after a martial art.
