Theres a chance, albeit slight, that the environmentally-conscious celebrities who push these green vehicles will loan the Queensland police some of their SUVs, Hummers and limousines so they can have enough room for their equipment, but Im not counting on it:
Queensland Police have been left red-faced over its choice of new green patrol cars. The service boasts it is going green, taking delivery of 100 hybrid Toyota Camrys. Shame no one checked the boot size. Frontline officers say the boots of the new patrol cars are too small to carry all their essential equipment, including flak jackets and emergency equipment.

Mad Max didn't drive a hybrid.

Please bring these stupid police cars here. I have a stable full of GM big blocks itching to speed with out having the fuzz catch me. Road blocks would even be a fun exercise in physics as I blow through them with a full frame car.

That’s an Australian version of the Ford Falcon. You can buy a Mad Max kit on line. The car in the Road Warrior was a Jenson.

I have a relative who works for the gummint doing undercover drug work. He has to drive a gummint hybrid. Unfortunately, under electric power the the car cannot provide enough juice to run all the radios and electronic gear; consequently, it has to run on gasoline power continuously.

I still drive one (2003 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor) and will hang on to it until they take her out to scrap.

Quit complaining or you'll be upgraded to these:

Since firearms are forbidden in Australia, why on earth would Police need flak jackets, high powered rifles, or helmets? They should “use diplomacy” on lawbreakers and if that fails offer them milk and cookies.

The car in the Road Warrior was a Jenson. The cars driven by Gibson in Mad Max 1 & 2 were facelifted Ford Falcon XB GT coupes.
