Posted on 12/30/2010 5:27:42 AM PST by ducttape45

Here in Indiana, near Grissom ARB, we just felt what we think was an earthquake. Can anyone confirm?

That’s pretty much how it happened here. Watch out now though, Godzilla got loose from his underground prison and Kokomo is being leveled as we text.

Bush's fault again. Along with gas being over 3 dollars a gallon. When is the press going to tell that jerk in the White House it is his fault the economy is so bad and will get worse due to his oil exploration rules? Coming soon over 4 dollars a gallon gas and It will be Obamma's fault!

Yep...there was no movement at Guy, Arkansas yesterday. There has been regular rumbling there for quite some time now. Several people are keeping an eye on the New Madrid because this fault could easily produce a MASSIVE amount of damage.

Do you live near Kokomo? Did you hear the boom?

The shaking lasted maybe 10-20 seconds. Long enough to scare the heck out of me because I knew it was an earthquake and I'm on the top (fourth) floor of a condo building. And long enough to produce a feeling of dizziness and minor nausea.

I'm hoping some others living in the Chicago suburbs will chime in soon to add to the discussion.

I lived in s. ca for 6 years and been through several earthquakes. They are unnerving. Read up on safety with earthquakes. In CA we had to strap our heater down and hot water heater. Any tall furniture was hooked to the wall. All cabinets had those little child safety locks on them. To keep dishes and what not from flying out and breaking everywhere. One of the problems with earthquakes is, even if it’s not enough to bring a building down. You can end up with glass everywhere. In the middle of the night that can be rather nasty. Have a wrench so you can shut off gas lines to your house. They use to tell you to get into a door jam during an earthquake, now they tell you not to do that. I’m not sure where they tell you to go now. Under a table?

That’s what I’ve read too. I’ve also been keeping an eye on the New Madrid. I think that could be the one to totally change how the continent looks if it erupts in another 8.0 scale quake.

I agree. The effects would be unprecedented. It would certainly have a devastating effect on our already crippled economy.

Steady. It was just a meth lab exploding in a trailer park outside of Kokomo.

I heard the boom in Indy. After the boom, it sounded like a huge gust of wind was shaking the house. I thought the wind had blown one of my doors open. I didn’t find out it was an earthquake until I got to work. Weird.

I live in W Alexandria OH, 90 miles e of Indianapolis, & I felt a liitle like tremor this morning around 7:30. Is it possible that this was caused by the earthquake?
