Just over a year ago, Kathy Drelicharz helped Muddy Paws Dog Rescue in a drive with other shelters to restock pantries with pet food and supplies to help struggling families overwhelmed by the poor economy.
Now, the same purported Deer Park no-kill shelter for which she said she collected about 2,000 pounds of donated dog food is being described by a Lake County prosecutor as a former death camp for canines.
Lake County prosecutors said the bodies of 20 dogs, three birds and an opossum were recovered during a five-hour operation Thursday at Muddy Paws off Rand Road. Authorities said the dogs and birds died from neglect and starvation.
Muddy Paws operator Diane Eldrup, 48, is charged with 32 counts of animal cruelty. She has been freed from Lake County jail on 10 percent of a $250,000 bond provided by Algonquin resident John Breseman, records show.
Drelicharz said Friday she never had any suspicions about Eldrup, who was arrested by Kildeer police Dec. 17. She speculated Eldrup may have been under stress from divorce proceedings.
“I know she loved the dogs,” Drelicharz said. “I don't know why this happened.”

At least 5 tons to 10 tons of dog excrement was found in plastic bags stored in Muddy Paws' garage fronting Rand Road, officials said. Investigators were to examine 10 sample bags on the belief dogs were buried in the feces, said Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Mike Mermel.

This is clearly a case of an animal hoarder who faked her way into obtaining official sanction.
Like a child molester setting up a daycare center.
You know how sick they are when they protest their love for the pooches even as they keep them in abominable conditions.
I have found extreme animal lovers to be very hostile, even murderous, towards their fellow man. Simply look at the posts regarding some unhappy episode involving an animal.

It’s sometimes downright scary isn’t it? The pet industry and Liberalists have created a society in which animals have almost superceded humans in rights and priviliges.
I love animals but I was brought up on a farm and have never put animals on the same level as humans. It gives me a start when someone uses the term “family member” in regards to an animal. It denotes a detachment from reality.
Millions of dollars are donated to animal shelters each year by well-meaning animal activists. They seem not to realize that a large portion of those donations are used to euthenize huge numbers of animals. As for the “no kill” shelters, it is unrealistic to suppose that any organization can find homes for the thousands of sick, diseased, injured and abandoned pets that pass through their doors. Only the cream of the crop get adopted.
The pet industry is one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on the American people. When you serve that bowl of tasty little nuggets to your dog or cat, or feed your livestock or commercial fish, you are almost invariably feeding them dogs and cats that once were household pets, therefore, feeding them their own kind. That can never be a good or healthy thing for them or their owners. Every pet owner should visit the factory that makes the product they feed their pets and insist on being allowed to view the intake of raw ingredients. Even cattle, pigs, sheep and fish raised for commercial use are being fed a hodge-podge of putrid, decayed matter made up of pets that don’t even have their flea collars and plastic bags removed.
A little research will prove what I have said. It’s time for a realistic view of the pet industry. I have seen people who would give their lives for a cat or dog but would happily kill a human being for what they view as “abuse” of an animal.
Taking joy in the pain and suffering of ANY living thing is evil. But sacrificing the well-being of humankind for animals is wrong and borders on animist religion practiced by pagans.

Does this mean you put believers in Islam above animals? This is not meant to be a trick question. What do you really think?
I am more discriminating and sincerely believe followers of Islam rank below animals, as does whatsisname Vick.
I will answer your question. It is my belief that God has set mankind on a higher level than animals. He made animals for our benefit, for our use. That is not to say that He condones the deliberate torture or infliction of needless pain on any living thing. I don’t believe He does.
Vick and followers of Islam are human beings, just like you and me. No, I do not rank them with or below animals. While we are not constrained by God’s Word to like, love, associate with or condone the likes of Islamists(worshippers of false gods and idols or the likes of Vick), “Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.”
(Psalm 139:19-22).....we are NOT allowed to judge what may happen to them in the way of punishment for their deeds. “Vengence is mine, saith the Lord”
So, in answer to your question; no. No human, however base their actions, can be equated with animals. Unlike animals, humans have the capacity to know they are wrong and, perhaps, to change their ways, no matter who they are or what they have done.

You are obviously holier than I am. I completely disagree with you. I think you beliefs are the problem.
I used to live near there but never heard of the shelter. There was a very good shelter in Riverwoods, “Orphans of the Storm”.
