We got the chance to spend a few minutes with Sony Ericsson's latest smartphone, the Xperia arc. The extremely sexy arc features a curved rear cover, as the name suggest, that measures only 8.7mm thick in its middle. The arc is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone OS, which shines through on a 4.2-inch touchscreen display that Sony Ericsson says is powered by Sony's Bravia engine, the same technology used on Sony's television sets.
Out back, on that curved cover, sits an 8.1 megapixel autofocus camera and an LED flash. The camera can record HD video, and Sony Ericsson says that the camera's Exmor R system allows it to capture high quality photos in low light.
Sony Ericsson said that the Xperia arc should start shipping globally later this quarter, but declined to indicate which markets in particular it would land in or what the phone might cost at that time.
We've got a video of the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc in action, below.

I am not aware of another phone with HDMI output......but there so many appearing...
Sprint EVO G4 has HDMI output
http://androidandme.com/2010/05/news/hands-on-hdmi-out-with-the-sprint-evo/
It has connection to a docking station...is that an HDMI connection?
Duh,...OK...I glossed right over that.
What HDMI Cable Do I Need for My Android EVO or Droid X?
Take a look at some of the newest high-end Android smartphones the HTC EVO 4G or the Motorola Droid X and youll notice a new port we havent seen much of before on handhelds: HDMI. Yes, built-in HDMI ports on smartphones is are here, and if forced to wager, wed bet theyre here to stay.
But youll also notice that these ports are not ordinary HDMI. Theyre smaller much smaller and wont work with the HDMI cables you already have laying around. No, these are HDMI Type D ports, more commonly known as Micro HDMI. And in order to use them, youll need cables with smaller Micro HDMI connectors on one end and standard Type A connectors on the other.
These cables arent usually as expensive as standard HDMI cables, even at retail. But, as with all cables, you can save quite a bit if you do a little hunting. Amazon, for example, has a 6-foot DAEC Micro HDMI to HDMI cable for $11 (as of this writing). You can also find great Micro HDMI prices on eBay.
Putting an update on that thread...regarding the Dock.
Thanks.
If the claims are true, this will be the first 8 MP phone camera that doesn’t suck. But if true, I also can’t wait for this tech to hit full-sized cameras. The image quality for a 35mm size CCD must be amazing if they can keep low-light quality for a phone-size CCD.

Wonder what I have in my Sony alpha 200?
Thanks. Let’s see. Back illumination is good, but it’s already in use. It’s one reason why the IPhone takes such good pictures at 5 MP. This looks like it “Sony solved this problem [small sensors being noisy and not working well in low-light] by implementing a unique formation of photo diodes optimally designed for fine pixel structure to realize a CMOS image sensor with high resolution, high sensitivity and low noise.” It doesn’t say much, but it at least gives a reason for the claims of good low-light performance. It might actually be good.
