Gayest city? Magazine says it's Minneapolis (Eyes rolling...)
Minneapolis StarTribune (aka The Red Star) ^ | 1/14/11 | Kim Palmer - Staff Reporter

Posted on 01/14/2011 3:05:43 PM PST by MplsSteve

Minneapolis may have dropped a notch on the "Most Literate City" list this week, but the metropolis picked up a new title: Gayest City in America. That's according to the Advocate, the national gay news magazine based in Los Angeles.

The city came from nowhere to snatch the tiara from last year's winner, Atlanta, which slid to No. 7.

"This was Minneapolis' first appearance [on the second annual list], and it shot right to the top," said Matthew Breen, executive editor for the Advocate.

What makes Minneapolis so gay, so suddenly? The Advocate changed its criteria for making the list, Breen said. "Last year, we looked at same-sex couples, gay-marriage equality, gay bars and the number of gay films on Netflix favorites pages. This year we looked at the number of dot.com [dating site] profiles per city, the number of gay elected officials, lesbian bars, gay-friendly congregations and gay yellow page listings."

Don’t forget the ‘70’s hair. Yick! Kind of like liberal’s hair nowadays.

I live outside the blast ring and projected debris path of the metropolitan area. One August night as my family stood on our dirt road looking at clouds in the twilight, I asked a young'un what the glow on the northern horizon was. She replied: That's the campfires of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Smart kid.

I was in Mpls a few years ago and was really taken aback, I mean astounded, with the number of homos there.

DC (nearest big city to us) is pretty gay too.

Ann Arbor and Ferndale have to be up there near the top of the list. A lot of homos there.

I don’t know where they live. I don’t visit.

They’re militant lesbians who know I’m a conservative so they choose to stay away from me.

Minneapolis (and I know it fairly well, as wifey hails from the area) can’t hold a candle to our local Palm Springs....now number one in Syphyllis in the United States, and therefore likely to lead in the ‘gay plague’ (altho such stats continue to be conveniently scrubbed). They have ‘pride parades’ there a couple of times a month.

The first time I went out to Minneapolis in 1976, for a week’s training session, a friend told me..”stay the hell off of Hennepin Avenue..”

In the early 80s, my two young sons and I set out from central Illinois, to find the source of the Mississippi (like it was lost). We found the source and also learned that it is chilly in Northern Minnesota at night even in mid summer. We also learned that Minnesota has some humongous mosquitoes and very many of them.

Whether the mosquitoes were homosexual or not, I cannot attest to.
