We have gone total cellphone; I have DSL and did hook up a phone for a short time about a week ago and it started ringing off the hook. I did not answer it as once you answer it, they know it's a "person" and they'll never stop.

I don't have "messaging" on that phone, it's bare bones and except for having it on the DSL ticket, I never use it.

But it is on the no-call list and I wondered why I'm getting all these calls.

So, I unplugged it again.

They now tell me that you can "unbundle" DSL from the phone, and as soon as "magicjack" institutes portability of numbers so I can keep my great phone number, I'm unbundling and getting rid of the phone side. That'll save me a bunch. The "magic jack" is just for the occasional fax I send or receive.

I got magic jack this year and I get to keep the phone number wherever I go. It’s one of the selling points.

If you move, you just pack up your jack and plug it back in once you have your computer set up. It should work fine.

The only thing is you have to let the 911 feature know your new address.
