In two consecutive studies of a total 282 students, researchers at Ohio State University showed that the majority of students chose kudos over more primal rewards like food, alcohol and sex as well as more sentimental rewards, like seeing a close friend. They even chose accolades over cold, hard cash. But why?

The Education system has been geared to be a constant stimulant to self-esteem for at least the past two decades or more rather than a means of imparting knowledge from one generation to the next with the hope of keeping future generations from repeating the mistakes of previous generations. There should be no surprise that the system has generated this result.
I don’t believe the researchers are *actually* offering the students alcohol or sex (although they could offer food), and therefore, drawing conclusions based on what students *say* would motivate them is a bit dubious. If they could really get alcohol or sex as a reward ...

But, here we have a prime example of just how this effort has failed. Children are still craving some recognition of being "good." That says they believe themselves not to be.
If "kudos" and recognition are offered to everyone, for everything, then they cease to be meaningful. For "kudos" to be meaningful, there also has to be an opposing counterpart.
It's as if they're at war with dichotomy and really do believe all children can be above average.
Three questions.
1. Who was the cook?
2. Was it rot-gut whiskey?
3. Did they offer up Nancy Pelosi or Michael Moore?
A 'study' can be designed to arrive at a predetermined result.
