Bathtub Troll Makes His Pitch

Those among the FreeRepublic readership who, like me, grew up in the 60s or 70s, will likely remember the little toys we used to call “bathtub trolls.” Short and chubby, with homely little mugs, they stood on stubby legs with arms spread wide as though offering an embrace, brightly colored long hair flying wildly in all directions.

If you were ever possessed of way too much free time, you might wonder what one of those bathtub trolls would look like fully grown. I just found the answer to that question. Dennis Kucinich.

Congressman Kucinich was being interviewed on FOX NEWS by Bill Hemmer just moments ago. They were discussing topics likely to come up during President Obama's State of the Union speech this evening.

Hemmer asked Kucinich, “Do you support the idea of private investment accounts for individuals as a replacement for Social Security?”

Kucinich quickly replied, “Absolutely not, no way! That would virtually guarantee America's retirees losing all of their money.”

An interesting response, given that all America's future retirees have to do to absolutely guarantee that every penny of their money will disappear immediately is to pay it into the Social Security trust fund.

Obviously, Bill’s next question should have been, “Well then Mr. Kucinich, can you explain to our viewers the difference between taking the chance of losing their money in a stock investment, or guaranteeing that it will instantly disappear by paying it in to the government?”

It seems to me that the vast majority of taxpayers would at least prefer to have the chance to make some money on their investment, as they would in a stock investment program, as opposed to sending their hard earned money to Washington, where they know that it will be pilfered immediately.

Of course, Bill Hemmer did not ask Congressman Kucinich this question. But that fact does not alter the other fact, which is that it is a question that deserves to be both asked and answered.

Dennis Kucinich?! I beg to differ, they'd look like Fox News' Judge Napolitano!

Way too funny! But unfair. Objectivity would have found you also posting a photo of Kucinich, just for a real head-to-head comparison.

Then again, it's just as well that you didn't... at least this way, I'll get some work done, and not just sit here laughing at my computer screen for the next six hours!

Heh. I’ve always thought the Judge looked like a troll doll and I finally found a pic of a grayheaded troll for comparison. I think it’s the hairline and nose.
Kucinich always reminded me of a car salesman-it’s them beady eyes, lol.
(full disclosure: I think troll dolls are still cute.)
