An alleged Department of Homeland Security memo saying that Arizona shooter Jared Loughner was influenced by American Renaissance (AR), a controversial conservative publication, does not exist and there is no evidence of such a tie.
A Fox News report by Jennifer Griffin on the memo about AR suggested official inside information at the highest levels of the Obama Administration that Loughner was motivated to assassinate Rep. Gabrielle Giffords because she was Jewish and because of the immigration controversy in Arizona.
While many liberal commentators recklessly tried to link the shootings to Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, or other conservatives, the Griffin report on Fox News seemed to give official credence to the notion that conservatism was a factor motivating Jared Loughner.
For this reason, the report, which prompted a bomb threat and hate mail against American Renaissance, was seized upon by dozens of media organizations and left-wing websites such as Media Matters and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Politico, which was among many news organizations publicizing the erroneous Fox News story, has now reported that the document in question came from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center (ACTIC) and not DHS. Politico said that David Denlinger, identified as a commander of ACTIC, acknowledged that it contained errors and overstated the link between Loughner and American Renaissance.
In fact, Denlinger has no evidence of a link.

People should be fired for stuff like that
Liberals lie every time they speak.
There should be a comma after Fox News in the title.
I don’t suppose the dirty little secret about Giffords remarking following her office vandalism that she owned a Glock 9 mm and was a pretty good shot could have possibly inflamed the insane Jared?
I think it’s a good example of a feeding frenzy for ratings. Truth be damed.
What a difference a punctuation makes...
Roger that.
Even as Texas is covered with 6 inches of snow and 5F at night this winter, as for three consecutive years global temperatures slightly dip, you'll hear the cries about global warming. We're at a point where it can be completely dis-attached from reality and people will still believe it.
It just has to sound and feel good, be presented in a fashionable and interesting way, marketed so to say.
America is dumbed down and people aren't even looking for the truth, just affirmation of their values and beliefs..........
The media will roll on with its message completely undisturbed by the truth. lol
“What a difference a punctuation makes..”
Yes, and I see many threads on here that make no sense
because of poor formatting.
I do, however, have a question concerning FOX.
I have been out of the US since 2005 and have not seen FOX since then, but from other post, I get the impression that FOX is no longer the great refuge for the true Americans, and in fact moving to the left.
Is this true?
A short time after the Giffords shooting someone much wiser than ma-wa pointed out that, instead of cowering in fear that the shooter might be a conservative, we should instead state clearly that we don’t care what he is.
After all, I’ve listed to Rush for 20 years, Savage for 10, been on this site for 6 years, and listened and read many other conservative leaders. NONE of them have EVER advocated violence to solve political issues - and NO ONE, ANYWHERE will be able to prove otherwise.
In other words, even if the shooter had been a conservative and listened to Rush - does that make Rush and the movement responsible - of course not (unless they can link Rush to inciting violence...LOL).
The problem with cowering in fear is that maybe next time the shooter will be a conservative - even so, unless Rush or someone is shown to INCITE that person to violence, it’s meaningless - except that we’re asking to get BLAMED by tacitly acknowledging that political debate might push some people over the edge.
Well, guess what, that’s been a problem on both sides, and it dates back to at least the Roman times. We should NEVER, EVER put our right to political debate into play, even if nutcases were shooting Democrats and Republicans every day. Once you give up that right, you no longer live in a free country.
in a word, no.
True, its perception that really counts. The Right had nothing to do with the shooting, but the impression of "They certainly could have" was stamped on the message.
IMHO, Loughner is the perfect poster boy for liberalism. An insane lunatic wanting to “change” America. Another defective product pumped out by our failed educational system.
Mark Twain
Take a light with some Mercury in it and put a “green” stamp on it, and poof, it's good for ya! Rip people off for millions, it's OK and long as it was to save the planet. Hey, I live in Wylie Texas, and where I live they are spending $150,000 on an advertising campaign to teach us to recycle more, which by the way is being subsidized with our tax money. Just to recap- they are spending my money to tell me that I need to use a service more that I don't use and am forced to pay for anyhow. But don't question this......it's another recycling thing and if you say anything that means you hate puppies and want us all to die in a stinking pile of trash.
