The coldest temperature ever recorded in Oklahoma was set today.
The Oklahoma Mesonet weather station at Nowata reached minus 31 degrees Fahrenheit actual temperature at 7:40 a.m. today. That will be considered for the official state record.
That mark eclipses the previous all-time record low state temperature of minus 27 degrees, set at at Vinita, Feb. 13, 1905, and Watts, Jan. 18, 1930.
Also, the Mesonet station at Medford recorded a wind chill of minus 47 degrees at 7:45 a.m. setting a Mesonet record.
The Oklahoma Mesonet, which began in 1994, has 120 stations throughout Oklahoma.
If this keeps up, global warming will turn the Earth into one giant ice ball.
Got that right.
YOu’re right — busted. -28 doesn’t turn it slushy, does it? And I know durn well that Okies don’t have their pipes protected anywhere near that low.

The best bet is to assure them that with a winter that cold, there are going to be a lot fewer insects come spring.
That is certainly going to put a dent in the global temperature chart.
This will stop the advance of the killer bees.
Waaa, I want to be where you are!
Well, I suppose that does make me feel a little better. Maybe it will keep the fire ants at bay, too.
Have ‘crazy ants’ made it to Oklahoma yet? While they don’t bite like fire ants, and will even drive away fire ants, they are already driving a lot of Texans bonkers.
I gather that you don’t just get crazy ants, either. You get tons of crazy ants, so much so that dogs won’t go into a backyard for fear of being covered with them. No bites, but eeech. If you walk out there, your legs up to your knees will be covered with them in short order.
