Billy Ray Cyrus Scared For Daughter Miley, Says Hannah Montana 'Destroyed My Family'

Country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus blames Disney's "Hannah Montana" for his daughter Miley Cyrus' issues, angrily saying "the damn show destroyed my family," the New York Post reported Tuesday.

Blaming publicists and Miley's handlers, Cyrus gives an anguished interview in GQ's March issue, where he adds he wishes "Hannah Montana" never happened.

"I hate to say it, but yes, I do. I'd take it back in a second," said Cyrus, who is divorcing Miley's mother, Tish.

Reflecting on Miley's controversial moments -- including seductive photos on the internet, pole-dancing at the Teen Choice Awards, and posing for Vanity Fair draped in a sheet -- Cyrus said he should have been stricter, and accuses her handlers of going too far to promote her, and then using him as the fall guy.

No one was holding you at gun point to continue with the show.

Yeah, I wonder if this is all sour grapes that his daughter is more successful than he is.

Don’t worry, Billy Ray... you’ll always have “Achy Breaky Heart”!

I guess Billy Ray doesn’t see his career as taking away from his being a better Dad?

Typical “it’s everyone’s fault but mine” mentality. I used to think he was a decent guy, but excuses like this are not acceptable.

She’s your daughter, Mr. Cyrus. You could have put an end to the show and reined her in at any time.

But regret about one's choices re: one's family can be an awful tough feeling.

Lots of decisions look worse in retrospect, I'll attest to that.

Billy Ray’s little girl is on her way to be another Lindsay Lohan or Britany Spears.

Mom and Dad share the blame. Good job Billy.

It was worse than that. The way I remember it, Daddy Billy Ray was loving the attention.

I’m sure he hated all that money. Anyway, Miley is a big girl now and free to follow in the footsteps of many famous child stars. Maybe she will tend towards the Olsen Twins or perhaps take a stroll along the Brittney Spears tangent.

Parents are supposed to be in charge of their children, not “handlers.”

Daddy sold his soul, his daughter’s, and I’m afraid millions of other kids for the all mighty dollar. It wasn’t worth it.

Up next hour on the Mr.Obvious show will be Billy Ray Cyrus, discussing how a nationally syndicated television show featuring his pre pubescent daughter ruined their family.

Yeah yeah. Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

The world is like a slow motion train wreck. You see it start, then you see it wreck, over & over & over.

This is BS. He was on the show with her, cashing in double from Disney and maintaining a profile as a D-list celebrity. He was also participated in that creepy photoshoot with her. Sorry Daddy Cyrus, this is what happens when you pimp out your little girl. Sorry that you regret it, but you let the genie out of the bottle. Remember, real men protect their daughters’ chastity.

No. As I remember, he was also loving the photos shoots with his young daughter.

Young kid, born into fame, way to much money.
Limelight, handlers, coddling, feeling entitled...
Can't see the difference between famous and important.

What could go wrong?

P.S. Watched 5 minutes of "Hannah Montana" while in a waiting room. Couldn't stand it.
