High Noon overrated?

Quaker Grace Kelly realizes that sometimes violence is necessary and blows away a murderous thug in defense of Gary Cooper and civilized society.

The drama; the pacing; the tension; the peace loving citizens unwilling to preserve peace.

High Noon is a master work of cinematic story telling, an incredible examination of American character.

Some of the responses listed on its Wikipedia page are interesting. Bill Clinton said it was his favorite. President Reagan enjoyed it. John Wayne said “the most un-American thing I’ve ever seen in my whole life.”

John Wayne turned down the Part of the sheriff in High Noon, saying that the story was ridiculous. The town would have gotten together and blown the crooks away in about 15 seconds. Coop did a good job, but I agree with Duke.

I agree 100%> High Noon is a great movie - more under-rated than it is 'overrated.'

When I first view it, it sure kept me on the edge of my seat.
