“Rich” people don’t have the time or money for a sit-down restaurant meal in an Obama economy.

I’m sure you would do very well at that job!

It’s not rocket science, but it takes good old common sense and continuous hard work to use coupons, pick out and purchase the sale items, make large portions and freeze, and likely dozens of other tips I’m not even aware of.

It’s stuff you don’t learn on Jerry Springer, Oprah, and People.com.

It’s a Rachel Ray recipe that we have tweaked. We make double the sauce, use the lesser amount of chicken but add a greater amount and variety of vegetables, broccoli, bean sprouts, mushrooms in addition to those she suggests. We mix the sauce in with the meat and veg in the wok instead of pouring it over after plating. It is definitely a family favorite!

Ain’t nothing balanced about a bag of McDonalds food.

That’s not bad at all.

Best deals I got today were:
Rice Krispies and Cinnabon cereals for the kids $1.88 each
I had 2 coupons for $1 off 2 and on the krispies boxes were coupons for buy two get free marshmallows. Bonus free marshmallows!
Ground beef $1.49 lb

Had to skip the potatoes and tomatoes because they were too expensive.

You can eat for a week on $8? Really?

Easily. The market I shop at has barbecued chickens for $3.99. Each one of these would feed me for three days. Times two equals $8 and...well just about a week.

If I buy uncooked chickens, I can get three 4 pounders at 89 cents per pound and rotisserie them myself. Lot of meat on a 4 lb chicken.

Or...if I buy a load of frozen vegetables and dried beans. I can eat those with a little cooking. With imagination, $8 goes a long way. And it's healthier than one meal from McDonalds.

Not a favorite unless they are in hummus. I do not like the texture when they are whole, don’t know why.

I’ve never heard of bacon ends. What department do you find them in? I may have to look closer.

When poor, investing in big blocks of what we use to call ‘government cheese’ which was real 30 years ago, not ‘processed cheese food’ can get you into triple grilled cheese and ham sandwiches, mac & cheese, queso with some wolf brand chili stirred in with chips, cheese and chicken quesadillas. Make the store brand of velveeta a staple.

Who cares what these rich, elitist, libtards eat. I’ll eat what I want and so can they... I can eat cheaper than McDonalds and eat steak and veggies every night with leftovers the next day if I choose. Ill make $4.00 worth of Hamburger Helper and make two dinners out of it. I guess Mickey D’s is cheaper that Lobster.. Maybe the Obamas should make some advice in this area. Moochelle doesn’t look like she’s missed a meal.

Hmm. I got chicken breasts for 99 cents a pound today, and had $1 coupons, so I got four family packs for about $4 each. I’m going back for more tomorrow. Good thing I have two chest freezers.

Usually it’s the part of the bacon cut off to make those nice square packages and is of low quality.
But the ones I see and buy are of extraordinarily high quality- better than the average packaged bacon. It may be a local ‘thing’.

These bacon ends are in the bacon area of my local Food Lion in pink plastic 4 pound containers with a clear top.

The worst package I bought did have maybe a 1/4 lb (out of the 4 lbs) of fat-rind ‘waste’ hidden it that I used in some vegetables. So even at a quarter the price examine it closely.

We all know you can smell McDonald's food out in street in a passing car.

My in-laws swear you can't smell their pets when you walk in their house. Trust me, I can. I still go to McD's about twice a year, to get a fish sammich during 'Catholic Appreciation Month' in the spring. Not near as good as I remember them, but some traditions ya just gotta honor...

FYI - you can put dried oats into tuna salad or chicken salad. You’ll never taste them - in fact, it improves the taste. It’s healthier, tastes great, and stretches your dollar.

Also a cheap filler for stuffed peppers and meat loaf. Another cheap stuffed pepper filler that is also super yummy is black beans.

With the exception of Subway, almost every time I eat fast food, I regret it. Between McD and nothing - I will choose nothing. Somebody said up there...”tastes like cardboard”. Correctomundo, Fonzie!

Thank you for the link! That looks fabulous. I tend to cook with as few ingredients as possible but my daughter likes to help me make special meals sometimes. We may have to give this one a try. I don’t see anything glaring in there that my family wouldn’t eat. Yum!!

The nice thing about black beans and oatmeal is that they’re good for you and they taste great. Another positive - if everything hits the fan and you need to stretch your food, oatmeal and black beans are the best.
