Davies apparently had scholarship offers from some PAC 10 and Big 10 schools, so there were probably upwards of 100 D1 programs that would have given him a scholarship, where he could have fornicated all he wanted.
I recall several years back (maybe 10 or more) a BYU football player was kicked out (or off the team) for having consensual sex outside of marriage.
As long as BYU is making the rules clear when they recruit these athletes, the school has every right to enforce them.
Good for BYU standing fast and setting a good example. Too long people have gotten away with violating ethics and morality, especially athletes.
Yes, but at most schools staring at a #1 seed, the star center seldom gets "caught" when it comes to breaking a rule.
Mormonism is still a cult, but hats off to BYU in this situation.
On the other hand, if all the BYU students who have been having sex were dismissed from the school, getting into BYU would be a lot easier.

But, getting into a BYU coed would likely become a lot more difficult.
It’s mandatory in the NFL, not as much in the NBA.

I have a feeling the people who dismissed him from the team aren’t necessarily basketball fans. Not many of those academic types are.
I have no problem with the actions of BYU in dismissing this guy. On the other hand, maybe the Mormon church should change the name of the school to something other than the name of a multiple serial adulterer.
