Twice on walks my dog has been attacked by dogs twice his height. He being a scrappy terrier managed to lock on to the attacking dogs necks. I couldn't get him to let go. I spreyed him with pepper spray on his nose. After about 20 seconds he let go. Pepper spray dosage is meant for humans. They use the stuff on bears but with a much higher dosage.
God how I hate to say this because I LOVE all dogs but if you walk in a very high risk area for dog attacks, get a cattle prod.
One about 4 feet long will keep you out of collateral damage range and they work instantly and they’re non-lethal but very, very effective.
They don’t cost much.
*cringe*
I *hate* those things being used on cows, let alone dogs but if your dog’s life is at stake.....whatever it takes.
[Lord, please forgive me for posting that]
