First of all, there are various opinions as to length of the generation that Jesus referred to. I have often heard 40 years, but obviously that still doesn't bring us up to present day. However, what you are referring to is the length of what we call a "generation", while Jesus simply said that the generation that saw the "fig tree" event would not pass away before all of the rest of the prophecy occurred. Well, if even one person from a particular generation is still alive then I would propose that it is reasonable to say that that generation has not yet passed away. Given a 110 year or so maximum lifetime, we could be looking at somewhere around 2058 as the outside limit of this prophecy.

Of course, this is all conjecture and opinion. None of us know the ultimate answer to any of this. The primary point was to be prepared, spiritually and physically, regardless of when "the day of the Lord" comes.

Since Jesus is the one speaking we have to go by the wording used when he spoke, which is what the Blue Letter Bible does.

Also is should be noted that we are speaking of a generation, not a century. If you want to stick with contemporary generations then we have baby boomers generation, they encompass years between what 40's through 50's? Certainly not 110 years. How about generation x. How many years? Again it isn't 110. LOL

You are trying to stretch that generation to 110 years to force your fulfillment of prophecy.

it’s not a matter of where he grips it... it’s a matter of weight ratios. a four ounce bird can’t carry a 9 pound coconut.

It is widely believed that this parable refers to the rebirth of the nation of Israel (which occurred in 1948).

Yep, that's "widely believed." Which is why 1988 was supposed to be the deadline (40 years to a generation). What's our current fallback from that? When's the new deadline for "that generation" passing away?

Hard to explain verse 34 otherwise.

Give us the otherwise then. Do you say “all these things” were fulfilled at Jerusalem, AD 70?

Do you say the stupendous astronomical events described in verse 29 happened in 70 AD?

Do you say “all the tribes of the earth” in mourning because they see the Son of man coming in heaven, verse 30, happened in 70 AD?

Do you say the second coming of Christ described in verse 30, happened in 70 AD?

Do you say the angels sounded a great trumpet in 70 AD, which gathered together the elect from one end of heaven to the other at Christ’s second coming, verse 31?

Are “all these things” the things you say were fulfilled in 70 AD?

Enlighten us, please.

Hey, noise I just marvel at the Bible’s complete compendium of knowledge. For instance, the geography of St. Luke and t was supossedly full of errors. That is until archeologists started digging up cities like Decapolis and located those towns exactly where St. Luke and the HS put them. The old testament accurately pointed out that the Earth and other planets rotate around the Sun. It took Western man and Galeleo until 1500’s to prove what Moses knew through the enlightenment of the Angel of the Lord.

That particular passage is stating that the generation that is alive at the beginning of the tribulation will not pass away until all the things foretold happen. It is not referencing the current (at that time) generation asking the question?

Basically, it sets the time frame that when the first signs begin appearing the normal life span of a generation (30 to 40 years by various estimates) would be long enough to contain ALL the events foretold.

This alone would mean that the events of 70 ad could not constitute the tribulation because the end hasn't occurred within the lifespan of a generation.

Also, ‘this generation’ refers to the generation Jesus was referring to which was to witness the events. It doesn't refer to the generation alive during Jesus time.

Why would I think otherwise? Consider, the current earthquakes, which rival any known trembler. I know whats about to come will leave our jaws upon the floor. Hang on Brother, things are about to get really rough. I can't speak for anybody else, but TSIATHTF!!!!

I don't care what version of the Bible you read, time has run out for 'the age of man'. We are about to enter the Millenial rule of Jesus Christ. He will rule with a rod of iron. Their won't be much crime, or other criminal activity. Wow, what a wonderful time it will be!

Thanks, I just can’t get over the guy who said that I was a heretic? I’m definately a sinner, but heretic’s kind of harse language for any Christian to lay upon a Brother, don’t you think?

BTW, I'm convinced the number of years in a generation remains valid. Remember, the human life span was only shortened because of sin. The Fig Tree parable was only put into play in 1967. That 'leaves' another 50 years 'a Jubilee of years'

Let me show you that the Second Coming at the Jubilees of Jubilees is about to occur in 2016 exactly as God Almighty said it would. I can't take credit for this scholarship. It comes from a rabbi I meet in Jerusalem a few years ago. PM your e-mail addy and I'll send you a copy. First rate scholarship from a member of the new Sanhedrin and a follower of Jesus Christ. There are many secret followers of Messiah Jesus in the Sanhedrin, the Jews just don't know it; YET!

Don’t dispare Brother, consider

THIS QUAKE WAS AT “46” MINUTES PAST MIDNIGHT EST!

Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, THOUGH THE EARTH GIVE WAY.
AND THE MOUNTAINS FALL INTO THE HEART OF THE SEA,
AND THOUGH ITS WATERS ROAR AND FOAM
AND THE MOUNTAINS QUAKE WITH THEIR SURGING.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come and see what the LORD has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

AMEN

However, what really stimulates the thinking mind these days is the recent disasterous earthquakes in Japan, Indonesia, Haiti and Chile.

Earthquakes aren't anything new either. What Jesus was describing was everyday life. That's why he said elsewhere that things would go on as they did every single day, marrying, being given in marriage until, with no warning at all, the bottom would drop out of everything and destruction and his return for every eye to see would be upon the world.

Radiation poisoning occurs primarily by direct contact and ingestion of contaminated foodstuffs. It's concentrated attached to calcium molecules selectively absorbed by mothers that are breastfeeding. It then becomes a dangerous contaminant thats readily absorbed by infants. The radioactive calcium in mother's milk becomes part of the child's boney skeleton. Pregnant women in the first trimester and those breastfeeding newborns are especially vulnerable to radiation. ( thus this very timely warning from Jesus )

Just to make sure that His people wouldn't miss the significance of this dire warning, Jesus made sure that the label of Fukushima or 'mother's milk' would be appeciated by everyone watching the news. He attached the name to both the city and also to the actual power plant. The group of six Tokyo Power Company reactors are known as Fukushima Dai-ichi, or Mother's Milk Power Plant.

These are the actual reactors that are leaking radiation. Jesus labelled Fukushima, or Mother's Milk in order to protect the least of these. Your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has placed a vivid label on the entire mess and has warned us all of the terrible danger radiation is to newborn babes.

This kind of free-associating, imaginative, hyperventilating borders on the psychotic.

However, the official earthquake monitoring agency was 'forced' to admit that over the last five decades the increase in the number, severity and frequency of earthquakes was true.

They had refused to admit that they had been decieving the public. Evidence global warming, how many times do academics actually admit they are wrong? Please tell me, so when I write those checks for premium educations, I don't feel I'm being ripped off.

I'm exhausted by the arrogance and bile of those that deny Jesus Christ. God is not mocked. He comes this time as conquerer and to conquer. Be forewarned my friends, no more patty cake with King Jesus.
