The 2 3/4" shells are the choice for anything except serious waterfowl hunting or maybe turkey hunting, and this gun isn't choked for either of those. The 3" shells "kill on both ends", as they say.

I've done some skeet shooting in the past, a little hunting too but this is for protection...for now.
