"Beck's show is the only fresh news programming going on."

Let me amend my initial post to say, perhaps there is a place for Beck at FNC, I just have a problem with him being on at 5pm, which is traditionally a spot reserved for less theatrical news.

Maybe Beck needs a spot in primetime, or at 11 (which I think would be ideal).

Since it is the TEENS/young adults who love this, let it be so, as they are our future and BECK is their only TEACHER today.

Right you are. My 22 year old and his friends are addicted to Beck. They listen to the fourth hour, as well as the other three (they can't listen live, they listen online, and my son listens to the TV show on his commute home via Sirius.) I feel good about it because Beck is ultimately an educator...and as to the tears, it doesn't seem to bother the young adults I know.

Doesn't bother me either, but my dad was a strong man, but he did and does cry when he speaks of something he feels deeply about.

“Napolitano (the judge) could make better use of that Faux time”

Not according to the ratings. I like the judge but he’s way to factual.

One of the best shows I ever saw the Judge do was when he subbed for Beck once in Beck's early days. The Judge was absolutely on fire!

gov_bean_ counter "Emotions aside, do you find his observations to be fact based?"

I guess that's my problem. I don't want "fact-based observations" from my news channel. I just want facts, keep the observations to yourself.

Well, wait a minute. Only CSPAN is a purely "news" channel.

All the other so-called "news" networks have a small percentage of time set aside for actual "news". All the other shows on the networks are "opinion" shows.

For instance I think he overdid the Japanese cultural thing a bit. We may not hear about things like looting and hoarding simply because the Japanese government/police tends to keep a tight lid on it.

Not to say that that’s what’s happening, of course.

History, as taught in our schools, and out of Hollywood, the forever “based on a true story” line is such a mixture of fact and fantasy that we are left not knowing the difference between fact and fantasy.
If we had a right knowledge of history we would be able to identify where fact and fantasy are entertwined in Glenn Becks message.
If we were taught true history, he would be irrelavant.

Beck is gone. The leftwing has successfully planted the seed that fox is going to let beck go.

If that were the case, O'Reilly would have been gone long ago and Sarah Palin would not be a paid FOX News commentator.

Don't look for conspiracy theories to explain something that a 30% crash in ratings can easily explain.

Uh, if you read you own link you would see that almost everyone’s ratings are dropping.

Beck still pulls in double or triple his competitor’s numbers. He’s an ass-kicker in the information and instruction department, at a time when we need people like him.

I love Beck and the current Fox News line-up. Hope it stays the same... I’m not much of a fan of Glenn’s radio show though.

In Total Viewers...Beck at the 5 o’clock slot usually beats or comes close to every other show on Fox (except BOR and Hannity...and they’re in “prime” primetime.)

As far as the other channels, his numbers on a 5 o’clock show beat every other show on any of the other news cable shows.

Yeah, his numbers as down, but they’re down from when he was challenging BOR’s numbers, which is unheard of for a 5 PM slot, so it’s no wonder they’ve cooled off a bit.

"All the other so-called "news" networks have a small percentage of time set aside for actual "news". All the other shows on the networks are "opinion" shows."

That's true. As I mentioned to another poster, my biggest problem with Beck's show is the time-slot. It's just out of place in the daytime programming section. While it's true that Cavuto has some commentary, that's generally reserved for the end of the show, where Neil delivers a soliloquy on the day's pressing events. Most of the show, however, is devoted to hard-news interviews on daily business topics.

Beck's program is produced, just like any entertainment program. For me, it just feels strange going from Cavuto to Beck and then back to Baeir.

I remember several months ago, there was some breaking news story happening in the hour just before Beck. Cavuto was covering it, then his hour ran out, and rather than sticking with the hard-news story, FNC then went to Beck, who of course didn't touch the story. Instead, the show opened with Beck on a darkened sound-stage, with a single keylight on his face where he was speaking into the camera about something unmemorable that annoyed him the day before. It was really (as you put it) weird, and completely out of sync with the breaking story that should have been covered. That was the last time I watched Beck.

The Saudis are major stock holders of the Fox channel. They do have an effect on what is and isn't reported.

Walid Shoebat is not allowed to speak against or tell the truth about Islam as a religion and what their intentions truly are. He was a terrorist that married an Christian and was converted after reading the Holy Bible to find the errors in it, to prove to his wife Islam was better. He now exposes Islam and their lies. He declares that a mosque at/near ground zero is an absolute VICTORY over America, in the eyes of ISLAM, etc.

Many items are not a part of Fox news (almost anything against the state of Israel) gets any air time at all. Fox is pro Palestinian, in its reporting. etc.

Glenn is emotional. someone needs to be

LOOK at the STATE of Affairs in America and the whole world.

ONE WORLD ORDER IS NEAR... and the prophesy of the Bible is coming around the world ... as we sit here today.

Father God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

Beck has done a great job of shouting down the “fundamental changes” in America by the current Marxist Occupiers.
Many of us know that what Beck is putting out there is real, is true and is happening.
But I can only take so much bad news in one week...I can’t feed on it daily.
We’re on the east coast. The 5 PM time slot requires us to record his show, then watch when we’re up to it.

I guess that means you don’t want any opinion shows. No, wait, you said you want Beck to be replaced by (yawn) Kelly, Baeir, or Cavuto. Who, I gather, to you are not humans with opinions but rather talking ticker-tapes, dutifully passing on “the facts” (ma’am).

"I guess that means you don’t want any opinion shows."

No, O'Reilly and Hannity are clearly opinion shows. But, they're broadcast in the prime-time, not in the middle of the day where stories are still developing and should be covered. Instead, we get the Glenn Beck Revival, where he cries, he weeps, he laughs and even waxes poetic about what got under "his craw" that day.

I guess this is the difference between you and me. You think straight-news is "boring" (your word), and you would rather be entertained by side-show Bob. I wouldn't, especially not at 5pm.

Funny someone would mention Cavuto—he’s one of the few @ faux who knows wtf he’s doing—generally, people like that go unnoticed or attacked...
