Warning Shots? Glenn Beck To Poach Fox News Bigwig, Foreshadowing Big Plans
Mediaite ^ | 03/21/2011 | Colby Hall

It would be fair to say that the relationship between Fox News and Glenn Beck is being…tested. A recent NY Times column that suggested that Fox News was considering life without its controversial star has led to speculation about Beck’s value to–and future at –the cable news network, yet few have asked what Beck may have planned if he decides to leave Fox News. We may, now, have an answer. Mediaite has learned that Beck has planned to hire a Fox News big wig to work within his production company, revealing, perhaps, much bigger and more innovative plans than anyone had previously thought.

A source close to the situation tells Mediaite, “There is a strong indication that Glenn Beck has bigger plans for his TV future than anyone thought, as it looks like Joel Cheatwood, SVP of Production/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts very soon to work closely with Glenn on his next creative idea.”

While no deal is officially done, indications are that Cheatwood will soon be joining Mercury.

I know Beck has some loyal fans here, but the guy is WAY too emotional for my personal tastes. I think FNC would be far better without Beck, especially if they could replace him with someone more closely resembling Megyn Kelly or Brett Baeir or Cavuto.

Hello Sir. You seem to be something of a student of history. Emotions aside, do you find his observations to be fact based?

thank you.

Napolitano (the judge) could make better use of that Faux time...

Aside from Andrew’s love for another ConCon, and fair/ValueAdded Tax, I generally like what he has to say...

As I see it, he says what is on his mind, rather than let someone dictate his script. When a person says what they really think, it can get emotional, especially if they really care about the subject at hand.

Glenn has continued to provide an incredibly valuable service to our country and the conservative movement - and as of now I don’t see anyone who could fill those shoes. He has been able to share more critical information about the far left movement and its capture of government power and money, and he is able to get that information to a large number of people. We are far better with him in a position where he can use the large audience. There are plenty with the ability to say some of the same things, but they cannot reach the millions of people Glenn can. If he was suddenly off Fox, there would be a huge void to fill. Unless he has something bigger up his sleeve, I am hoping he is there at least through 2012.

I wish him WELL in all he does. I understand your feeling on the emotions.

All I know is that he has opened up a Classroom effect of true/factual information that has not been in the school classrooms. My grandchildren (all teens) love him, and are Learning what they should have been taught in school.

They listen, because of his emotions, the blackboard, and all the visual props. We as adults do not need this, but the Kids love it, otherwise it's just boring.

Given a choice between Beck and Shep Smith I would go with Beck every day. He is emotional, but not in that hyper ventilating way Shep is. It is just a matter of priorities. Beck holds down what has to be considered a fairly lame time slot. As long as he can win, and win big, in his slot there is no reason to change him out. And he gets a lot of time swap action. Someone less controversial in that slot would just be overlooked except by news junkies.

Since it is the TEENS/young adults who love this, let it be so, as they are our future and BECK is their only TEACHER today.

I was wondering where he went.

Sometimes he tends to spin the facts a bit to support whatever point he happens to be making.

"Emotions aside, do you find his observations to be fact based?"

I guess that's my problem. I don't want "fact-based observations" from my news channel. I just want facts, keep the observations to yourself.

I've only watched Beck a few times, primarily because every time I have watched it, I get the feeling I'm sitting in a big tent and waiting to have somebody hand me the collection plate. That's just not what I'm looking for in a cable news program, especially at that hour.

I think these are serious times with serious issues, and they should be covered seriously, with much less attention paid to theatrics and showmanship - kinda exactly how Brett Baer does it in the following hour.

I think Beck would be much more at home in a Comedy Central kind of environment. He may be an entertainer that says truthful things, but he's still an entertainer. I don't want entertainment when I'm consuming news.

“Napolitano (the judge) could make better use of that Faux time”

Not according to the ratings. I like the judge but he’s way to factual.

Personally, I would rather Fox get rid of that O’Reilly RINO idiot and put Glenn in his place. Their ratings would get even better.

O’Reilly completely crapped in his nest with me with that ridiculous masturbatory interview he did with the mulatto in chief for the Superbowl. I had very little respect for him at that point, but after that he flushed what was left right down the toidy.
