Hey guys I decided to give Firefox 4 RC (trial version before the release) a try and LOVE IT!

It's a lot faster and has a different look to it. I had to share this with all the freepers. Hope you all like it as much as I do.

I’ve been using it for a few days now. Definitely faster than 3.6.15 or whatever iteration they last issued.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work With WinXP or Win2000.

I have XP and my wife has 2000.

And no.. I’m not upgrading.. Don’t have the money to do so.

I like the way the web pages look too. Big improvement from the previous version.

I've used Firefox RC and also Beta versions 6 thru 12. Somewhere along the line one of them starting deleting some of my bookmarks.
Didn't delete the folders, but as an example, all the links within a folder or the bottom 10 of 20 links within a folder.

Who told you it did not work with XP? I don’t think that is correct. Lots of people still use XP. I highly doubt they would cut them out. I bet 2000 would work too, but that would be more believable that it does not work.

According to Firefox’s site it does work with Windows period. It does not specify an Operating System.

I think they’ve upgraded the rendering engine so that it handles HTML 5 code much better than the old version. Streaming video is much smoother, too.

Hold it. Isn't today the release date of Firefox 4.0 final version?

How does it compare to Chrome? I like Chrome because it is so fast, but I love Firefox extensions.

It’s like Chrome with Firefox extensions.

I had to back up to 3.6.3. One of the later updates loaded a bunch of crap, flash junk, java junk, pop-ups, etc., and created havoc.

I like Firefox, but it is becoming a glutware nightmare. [Does FF 4 fix the memory problem FF has had since version 0.7? FF claims it isn’t their fault, but FF continually consumes and fails to release memory.]

I have played around some with Chrome. It is okay, but it lacks much. It does something my other browsers (FF & IE6) won’t do — it loads video from the news networks. I have always had a problem, especially with FoxNews and CBS and their videos.

I am at XPsp2. I have stopped updating most of the software I run, simply because I know XP and my computer just can’t handle it. I’ve been looking around at the Win 7 laptops/desktops, but can’t force myself to spend the money yet — since I am retired and don’t really need a high-powered processing computer.

If you do decide to get Windows 7, then get Professional and not home. This is because it will run your old XP stuff.

Windows 7 Professional is worth the upgrade IMHO. It’s what Windows should have been a long time ago. Very user friendly and easy to use. There is a lot less items to click on now than what Windows has been in the past.

Been using FF4 for a couple of weeks. I like it. It takes some getting used to the locations of things but it works better.

I saw this thread earlier.

Here's my issue :)

I was planning on backing up my laptop this past weekend so I would have backups of all my vital data--my ping list being a part of that. However, my laptop power supply decided on Friday that 8 years was long enough to labor, and it died. Since my youngest son was on it at the time, I did not see any warnings about it being unplugged from the AC power. So the battery lost all interest in my business and went to sleep as well.

Luckily, I found the exact same model power supply on e-bay. It should be here by the weekend.

Been running FF4 (RC) with WIN XP for 2 days now. No problems, as of this moment.
For some reason it did check mark the “work off line” box, but this is easily corrected.
