I downloaded it awhile back for kicks. Use it occasionally, they are about equal in speed. I like Opera’s setup a little better, but use Chrome for certain websites it seems to handle better.
I'm probably going to have to install a usable theme, too. I'm stuck on a Windows Classic theme as the most efficient visually, for me. I never got excited about rounded edging, particular since it does take up more space.
For some reason, I really miss a fixed "new tab" button. Floating at the end of the last tab is just inefficient.

Yes I have and they had me do the ‘reset’ of the modem.
When I suggested they have a ‘node’ problem because of traffic they claimed it shouldn’t make any difference.
One thing I’m going to try in the spring is replace my telephone lines. Although they’re ok, I figured it was cheap and worth a shot. (I can do the work myself).
A keyboard Ctl-R habit might work for you. Back a page is Alt-leftarrow.
I like Chromium for GUI browsing, but what brings me back to Firefox is the ability to "dump" a URL (via cut 'n' paste mousepress from unrelated applications) on any idle part of a webpage, and Firefox takes me to that URL.
I do most of my browsing with a text-only browser - much faster.
Have you done a speed test before and after 10AM? A speed test would show whether you have an overall slowdown or if the slow response is on account of a necessary but usually quick/instant function (address resolution), by an external site, taking too long. It may be that your ISP's DNS is slow, while "the node" is still snappy.

I downloaded yesterday. Still adjusting to the changes, but will get there.
I did what he suggested, and right now it seems a little faster. I won’t know for sure for about an hour.
And yes. I’ve done speed tests before and after 10 am and they are the same. Which is very puzzling.
My download speed is fairly consistent at 5.85 to 5.90 and my upload speed sits right around 3.70.
Now that I’ve changed the DNS entry I’ll just have to wait and see if it stays consistent.
I should also mention that the problem isn’t so much speed, but waiting for the server to respond.
Once it responds, then the downloads go pretty quick.
And it doesn’t happen on just a few websites, it pretty much is all of them.
I’m beginning to think that the ISP is limiting bandwidth because on the weekends the response can be as long as 10 minutes. And sometimes I have no internet for nearly an hour.
If you do not like the new look, then you can add some of the buttons back.
Just go to the top left of the browser where it says, “Firefox” in orange. Left click it. Then two drop down windows will appear. The window to the right move your mouse over “Options”. A third window will pop up and you can check and uncheck items here. This will add back old features as you check them (by left clicking on them). For instance, if you check Menu Bar. Then it will bring back the File, Edit, etc at the top of the Firefox window. Uncheck it if you do not like it.

Thanks. my last update eliminated the file/edit, etc., so this time I made SURE to have it. Couldn’t figure out in between how to do that. I am a total cyberdunce.
When you get back your list and if you do not want it on your public homepage, send a FReep mail to yourself with the list as the message then you will always have it saved on FR.
Been using since about 4.0b6 or so. Very fast, very easy to use, handles lots of tabs open without any problems. Lots of nice features. Good rendering. It’s a solid effort.

Now I was comparing Firefox 4 to Google’s Chrome. Google Chrome just updated their browser right before Firefox. They both look the same. Chrome is a bit faster, but Firefox big advantage is their Ads Block. Love it! I hate Ads and I love how Firefox Ads Block keeps your web experience from pop up add. For instance, when you are on Youtube.
At any rate Chrome is a better back up than Internet Explorer IMHO.
I hate it. Tried to check vanguard funds - Vanguard wouldn’t let me in because it said I had to enable javascript - - I checked it - fine. Still couldn’t get in - had to use Google Chrome. Where do I get my old version back?
1) In Firefox 4 on the Top Right of your Window left click “Settings”. It has is an icon of a Wrench next to it.
2) A new window will pop up. This is your “Options” window. The third icon from your top left is “Content”. Left click that.
3) Third Box “Enable JavaScript”. Left click on the small box to the left of Enable JavaScript. To your right of that is the “Advanced..” button. Left click on it to make sure it looks okay.
4) When you are done just left click the “ok” button at the bottom.
That’s it. You are done. Not sure how to go to a previous version. I would google it.
