State House Representatives and Senators as well as the Cabinet, judges and appointees?????? Nah, didn’t think so. But the guy who sweeps the floor at the motor pool? Piss in the cup!!!!! How is this little government conservatism?

Personally, after spending over 22 years in the US Army, I hardly find it unreasonable. It's not unreasonable for soldiers. One doesn't have the same "rights" when in the Army. That said, free citizens should be free of unreasonable searches.

It doesn't take long for the Libertarians here to pounce when they see any FR title with the word "drugs" in it.

The 4th Amendmentguards against unreasonable searches and seizures. That all depends on your definition of unreasonable.
Even the justices that did ruled it constitutional (Kennedy, etc) acknowledged it was a direct violation of the 4th Amendment. They said it was OK due to a compelling government interest (Scalia and three others dissented saying there was no harm proven in not doing it and that it was a blatant violation of the Constitution).
Personally, after spending over 22 years in the US Army, I hardly find it unreasonable.
When you are in the Army, you have given up your constitutional rights so I can understand why it is OK in the military.
I dont want anyone working around me, regardless of occupation, who could be compromised in their judgement, execution of their duties, or there DRIVING ABILITIES through the use of illegal (of for that matter, the abuse of legal) drugs.
So drug testing gives you a false sense of security? The whole drug testing thing was a totally manufactured crisis to take more of our rights away. When they started it, planes were not falling out of the sky, trucks were not crashing with drug crazed people. It was completely a fear mongering attempt by people who hate the Constitution and freedom.
I guess those guys who died on the beaches of Normandy did it for nothing.
It always seems the ones who speak the loudest about this are the ones who dont want to be tested. How often do you partake?
Where is your evidence of this? So all people who support the Constitution are druggies? Personally, I would never work for someone who would do random drug testing. I think it is very humiliating and degrading to pee into a cup on demand. Not a very good way to establish a trust relationship with someone.

I also work in a hospital Microbiology lab. We are subject to random drug testing at any time. And you don’t get second chances working in a nosocomial environment.

Nor does it take long for those who hate freedom and the Constitution to show up.

Sheesh. When I had a part time job I had to submit a urinalysis. The government folks can too. The military does it constantly. I can’t tell you how many times I have been tested in the last year. I would say conservative guess....8 times.
To: sarasmom
Why not? My husband works as a miner and they get drug tested. It's also a reason they have to go thru lots of potential “new hires”.

One month for the on duty work force, and six months for the ones on sick leave, workers comp, vacation, and comp time. Sooner for them if they know they can upgrade from the Dodge Durango to an Escalade by showing up for work.

Drug testing is unconstitutional. It violates the 4th Amendment. Anyone who does not object to it is a traitor to this country.
Wow. You are a radical for sure. I have never heard of this. So the entire military are traitors.....news to me. I have not heard of one military personnel objecting to this. I mean groans and moans because their number came up, yes but never an objection.

Drug legalization and the legalization of adults having sex with children are the conerstones of theirplatform. Everything else is window dressing.

When you join the military you give up your constitutional rights. You are covered under UCMJ.

I first p**d in the bottle in Vietnam in 1972 when military drug testing began because of what commie-smuggled heroin from the Golden Triangle was doing to our dumbasses who did the s**t.
Thirty eight years later I p**d in the bottle for my very last drill assembly in the reserves. For years I was a board member on the separation boards for those idiots who popped hot on urinalysis. Heard every excuse imaginable.
If you can’t p** in the bottle when someone’s watching, then go see the chaplain. This is now and the war is everywhere. The cannibis libertarians who post their outrage over drug testing are a real hoot.

As I continued reading, I see that you at least understand that the military has to do it because we have some of our rights taken away during the time we serve. Thanks for that. Sorry about the radical call but it just seemed crazy. Had you said everyone but military it would have been cool. Anyway have a great day.

They are taking government money. I have no problem with the drug testing.

It must be nice to know that everyone’s precious bodily fluids are always chemically pure. But if you need drug tests to see if everyone is on top of the game, I wonder how demanding the game is.
