A while ago, Defense Secretary Robert Gates mentioned that he'll retire in 2011. Well, now it's 2011 already and 2012 isn't that far away. So what's up?
I thought it was April or early summer. Say hello to Wesley Clark.
He needs to be responsible for the deaths of a few thousand more American warriors, then he’ll be content.
He got his sexual deviants in the military thing rammed down our throats so it sounds like he’s ready to move on.
Gates is a political whore, but I suspect that whoever replaces him will be a LOT worse.
Let’s hope the Republicans in the Senate stand up and refuse to nominate the first corrupt commie jackass that Obama nominates for the job. And the second.
What difference does it make? Hillary is the actionable SECDEF for Obama. Gates, and whoever follows him are merely keeping the seat warm at the Pentagon.
Somebody’s got to replace him. Who in Obama’s stable has a realistic vision of “national defense??”
Gates is a patriot and dreads what will happen when he leaves.
Agreed. That’s why Gates is not going anywhere soon.
he’s still feeling the love of obama....
I'll leave it at that.
Gates stated in an interview last August with Fred Kaplin that he plans to retire in Jan 2011. Gates stated that he wanted to give Obama the opportunity to appoint a new defense chief without the pressure of a presidential election. Gates has served in some capacity to all Presidents since Nixon.
But what has Gates, a Republican, accomplished during his reign.
Gut the military, downsize our weapon systems, fired our fine top generals, eliminated the Joint Forces Command, supported the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, backed the action of putting women on the frontlines, etc., etc.
Great going Robert!!
I’m sure there are many other little dirty actions Gates has been involved with....Also, as former Chief of the CIA, Gates is also well aware of Obama’s hidden secrets.
Bye Robert
Retire in January 2011? Yeah right. Look at what day it is today.

Haven’t stepped down yet.
If you’re speaking of the job of Secretary of Defense, he retired many years ago.
