Agreed. I don't understand the fascination with Facebook or Twitter either.

I have had accounts on Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter.
I quit the lot of 'em in just a few days.
What a waste.

So I get these e-mails from FB-—so and so wrote on your wall or so and so wants to be your friend. Then when I click on the link it takes me to some other ridiculous, non-related item. It’s a most confusing and annoying site plus its a bit intrusive and don’t want to stay so connected with others from yesteryear. I didn’t delete it but i visit now very rarely.

I HATE IT!!!

I went to a huge dinner party with friends, held in the ballroom of a hotel...get the idea?

Great time, one of my friends took pictures of all of us at different times throughout the evening which I later saw when he he emailed us the pics.

THEN! One of our friends ( not at the party) said, “Hey saw your pics at the party...”.

Sooo, the guy taking the pics put them on HIS Facebook.
There was nothing wrong with the pics, etc...But it just bugged me that I go somehwere, frineds take pics, and BOOM, its on the internet.

With all due respect, with the exception of businesses, organizations promoting ideas or in need of updates etc to specific groups of people and a rare few personality types that enjoy constant socializing, most people that start a Facebook page are just cattle with low self esteem. Go along to get along types. Sadly we are all so easily influenced by friends, families etc, but that it part of what Facebook relies on. I value my privacy and saw this for what it was from the get go and shunned as I have most all marketing strategies that exploits people’s go along to get along weakness. Having written that I do think for some it does have some valuable, redeeming qualities.

I have a FB account and post nothing if any real value..never ever say when I am going to be away from home or anything like that. I have gone so far as to warn one or two friends to be mindful of what they post on FB especially of a political nature. I just keep up with what the kids are doing and now and then find something that is of interest that they are doing..but other than that I agree most of the stuff is just trite crap.

No facebook.

No cell phone.

I was gonna call my dad on his b-day last week but he was busy having a stent put in. But he called today.

Less and less tv.

Too much time on FR. But there are people here I am very glad I met.

I've always thought: "You won't win votes singing to the choir"

At least not in a general election.

What a waste of talent in in FR if the news we get here is not posted on the Facebook pages of people like Obama.

I mean, everybody here is going to republican. That's a given. I use what I learn in Freerepublic to battle the liberals and independents in other forums. Facebook and Twitter are the most powerful forums to change out government. If you don't believe. Ask Egypt.

If all republicans were to delete their accounts, who's going to be behind me when I post a URL in the comment section of Barack Obama's Facebook page the rebuttals his original post? The man has 18,913,150 followers that will view your post. You could take more votes from Obama in one post than you could a whole year of posting in Freerepublic (because we're not going to vote for him anyways).

When Barack Obama posted his Libya issue on Facebook. Millions read it and 1,450 commented. Me, I posted a few links I got from here in the comments in his page. One of them "Al Qaeda Commander Admits Libyan Rebels Are Linked To Al Qaeda" and I posted other damaging posts. The man has to be challenged. And what better way to challenge him with his own supporters and undecideds reading his posts the comments.

I also follow our side, Sarah Palin...etc. I think social networking is an excellent tool for wining votes. Again, just look at Egypt. We can participate or we can just let it fall. Sorry, those guys already have cable tv networks, the newspapers and FM radio... I'm not about to let them have the internet as well.

Do whatever you please but I'm not deleting mine.

A month or so ago I got into a nasty argument with a Freeper about Facebook. He thought it was the greatest thing since (fill in the cliche). I thought overwise and still do.

Advised about the great thrill it is having 5,000 “friends,” I argued back that these are not your friends, they are electronic acquaintances.

Anyway, I think FB is just a passing fad and 10 years from now it’ll just be a quiz show answer.

Actually, FB is great. I’ve been able to keep in contact with old friends I haven’t seen or heard from in years (decades). You have to be careful who you choose as friends. If you have people who are constantly posting their mundane activities, dinner menus, or worst of all: Farmville achievements, you can always filter them off your page.

Twitbook, I call it.

I was going to dump (FB), when I discovered that I could actually talk to some of my favorite artists, musicians and writers, and no, not superstars, but the kind who will communicate with their audiences. So I have to put up with the daily inanities from my relatives who got me to sign up because they don’t use e-mail at the time when I needed to communicate with them a little over a year ago.

And I clicked LIKE on some magazines and organizations, so that somewhat more meaningful messages from them dominate now instead of the what I had for breakfast posts from Jeremy and his lovely spouse.

I suspect it all shall pass too, just like MySpace (remember?) and Mark Zuckenbstein, or whatever his name, won’t be such a zillionaire for long.

I like mine a little for homeschooling. We are loosely organized, and it helps when other moms post coupons or links or events or activities. It has been helpful.

Last Christmas I also won a Sunbeam mixer from a Lowe’s contest on facebook. That was sweet.

I think women find it more useful, because we do the shopping and worrying about household things.

Never had a Facebook account. Never will have a Facebook account. Don’t care about Facebook accounts. You are better off not having a Facebook anything.
