India has won the 2011 Cricket World Cup by 6 wickets over Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni crushed a six on the final ball to complete the chase for the Indians, who overcame a 274-run inning by their opponent, despite losing their first two batsmen (including "the master" Sachin Tendulkar) in the opening overs ......

It's India's first World Cup championship in 28 years.

Now that's coming back from behind. Luckily, India defeated Sri Lanka. If it had been Pakistan, I wonder how many people would have died?

Cool beans!

I guess that means that Present Stroker did NOT pick India to go the distance. And, this also means that it’s time for him and his pet Wookie to go on another vacation!!

Woo Hoo!

Given that India has so many millions more cricket fans and players than other countries, shouldn’t they win every time? Especially now that the English and the Australians are losing or have already lost interest in the sport? Is it that India doesn’t have the resources to develop all of its talent? Or are the West Indians that much more skillful and passionate?

Nothing to do with number of people.

Aussies have been the resident No. 1 for the last decade.

India wacked Pakistan in the semi-final, apparently a close game though.

There is no sport more boring than soccer..

My son plays competitive soccer. His High School team was won the state championship two years in a row, look to threepeat.

I can't stand the sport.

Interest in cricket in the anglosphere has remained more or less constant in the past two decades. If anything it has increased in England due to newer innovative formats and better performances from the national side.

Usual occurence in Pakistan during Indo-Pak cricket matches-

Also watch for suicides, heart attacks and broken television sets.

Could be. I just know what I see in the papers: Aussies beware – cricket is taking a kicking. As young Australian talent flocks to AFL and rugby, Ashes humiliation is only the most visible sign of a worrying trend for cricket-lovers
