Think of this action by Google as akin to training one athlete in a race to an Olympic level and then pitting her against amateurs. The amateurs could still win, but its going to be tough.
Confirming what weve heard, Mobile-Review notes:
Producers wishing to make tablets for Android 3.0 sign a separate license agreement with Google. It also contains a number of very interesting points. In particular, the producer who created a device in OS version 2.x, cannot update it to 3.0. It is possible that this was the reason that the HTC Flyer in most versions will be released immediately with the third version of the OS.
This is also the reason many found the Xoom to be an oddly incomplete device: it was essentially a beta release waiting for its gold master to come.

I use my pocket knife to actually Cut Things I also use it to open bottles of root beer. I use it as pliers to twist heavy wire. I have used it to saw wood. I use it to trim threads off of my shirt pocket.

Intels chip will be powering 6 Android notebooks
*********************************EXCERT**********************************
For those of you wondering why this is great news, well just think about how much it costs a company to get the license for Windows OS. Now take that number and delete it. Thats right folks, if the notebook manufacturers head over towards Android OS this will largely decrease the production cost and we will be getting cheaper and cheaper devices running with our favorite platform. The fact that Intel decided not to use their MeeGo platform, might also suggest that the manufacturer wants to leverage the marketing strength of the Android platform especially amongst enthusiasts. Despite that, even MeeGo is free and we might even see some devices pop up this year as well.
There are rumors about Intel working heavily with Google on a Chrome OS based notebook, but there are just rumors for the time being. In any case, grab your Android smartphone and your Android notebook ( powered by an Intel processor of course ) and head over to a nearby caffe to show off I know I will.
