Actually, beans are good for decades; all you have to do is soak them in warm water over night. The only danger is water, which can make them sprout.
And I agree, evap milk is better than ND creamer.

After 5 years, dried beans will not soften, no matter how long they are soaked, boiled or baked. At that point, they _can_ be pressure cooked or ground and still used. Freezing dried beans that have been vacuum packed or storing in a nitrogen environment may extend the useful period, but you can check it out: they do not last forever. I also thought dried beans were good for an extended period of storage time, until I researched it.
Remember that you do not know how long they were in a warehouse or on the shelf, either.
Sprouted beans are actually a great way to get greens in the winter.
