Remarkable. That’s the only word for this story. His buddies have now nick-named him “Headshot.” From the Marine Corps Times:
Manning the top of a compound south of Sangin, Afghanistan, Sgt. Paul Boothroyd III took a sniper round to the head. He landed face down onto the muddy roof with a thud.
Fifteen minutes later, Boothroyd was bandaged, smiling, smoking a cigarette and giving the “thumbs up” as he waited for the medevac helicopter, to which he walked under his own power.
It’s a “you-gotta-be-kidding-me” story that earned Boothroyd, a signals intelligence operator with 2nd Radio Battalion, a new call sign from his team members: Headshot.

Imagine what the sniper is thinking...”I shot that marine in the head and he’s still alive...those guys must be bulletproof!”
Awesome. Biggest smile I’ve had all day. Sounds like a Marine alright.
But then I think, these are the types of guys that stand in harms way virtually every hour of every day so we can live peaceably in a very messed up world.
The day can't come soon enough where we have a CIC who'll give due respect and consideration to these brave ones.

God....I miss Bush terribly...How different he was with the troops and their families, I will never forget when he went over and surprised them at Thanksgiving!
What a different response Bush got from the troops, than this A...h... gets whenever he is with them, which is usually from a podium with them looking like they can’t wait till he leaves!

I like the Teufelhunde moniker, but I've read that it may be apocryphal.
We have snack cakes around here in the supermarket that are said to be full of fat and sugar and everything else you're supposed to avoid, and go by the name of 'Devil Dogs'. I wonder what it would take to get their marketing department to adopt the slogan, "Come on you sonsofbitches! Do you want to live forever?".
Actually, no, the Germans didn,t. It was a reporter who made it up, it made it by the censors as a favor to the wounded reporter. The reporter screwed up the German plural.
