I got the photo off the net.
Look a the highlight on the back of his hand/wrist and compare it to the grandfather (... allowing for his darker skin).
His face might be in shadow, (see dappled shadows on wall.)
Ok....I have used photoshop and it looks like the bench has been photoshopped where granny was sitting (with zero in the center). Obama was erased.
The edge of the bench is a little too rounded beneath the slat of bench which should be straighter. The rock beneath that part of the bench is photoshopped....you can see the patterns copied after that big spot in the rock at right edge, just beneath the bench.
Line up with that part that matches in the above photo...and proceed to your left looking at the rock....it is copied from same source. Same with rock above the bench....sections are copied from the same source point. No large area would have same exact shadows and shapes in rock...tile maybe, but never rock.
Someone erased zero....His grandparents were horrid people, so I don’t see the problem with him sitting with his fellow travelers. Maybe they are on their way to a temple to worship Satan and that explains their excitement.
Both photos look altered, IMO.
Well, I can tell you this much, grandpa’s hand is leaving a real shadow on Obama’s shoulder based on my analysis of the gamma. This would next to impossible to fake.
Another good point. The light on Dunham’s left hand across the tops of both of their legs and Obama’s hands are exactly right IMHO. The light logic on most of the rest of the photo works as well. But his head would have to be in a shadow to avoid the kind of light on top of his head exhibited in post #18 (admittedly more extreme than it would be in your pic).
The “Content-Aware” fill option in Photoshop 5 is pretty amazing.
The below photo - without Obama - is photo-shopped. It is obvious at a glance.

That's great, because Photoshopping expertise is badly needed here. What I noticed is that the suspicious hand has a completely flat line of pixels, as if this was the margin that was copied and pasted. To a lesser extent the shoulder too. Is this a Photoshop edit?
From the grandfather's shoulder, I would expect that his hand was straight down, on the seat of the bench.
So, seeing his hand on the shoulder, makes me think it's a Fake.
Also, the hand is oddly hovering over Obama's shoulder. Weird. This makes me think it's a Fake.
However, the presence of the hand at all is completely optional. I would think that a good Photoshop artist would get rid of the hand entirely because it makes people think the photo is a Fake.
To a certain extent, in a perverse way, the fact that the hand is present, and weirdly hovering, makes me think that the photo is Real.
Unless the photoshop guy is playing a very deep double bluff game.

It’s not even a very good photo-shop job; unless his grandfather had only one arm...
I agree with the idea that both have been EDITED.
