In the Los Angeles metropolitan area (that includes Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Fernando Valley), it's more a case of congregation, not segregation. Look at the very distinct areas with strong ethic backgrounds:

African-American--South Central area of Los Angeles
Chinese--cities of Alhambra and Monterey Park
Hispanics--the East Los Angeles region of Los Angeles County and the city of Santa Fe Springs especially
Japanese--the city of Torrance
Korean--the Koreatown section of Los Angeles
Vietnamese--the cities of Westminster and Garden Grove
