It doesn't matter if it wasn't meant for our ears. It doesn't matter that NBA players might do it all the time.
And it doesn't matter in the slightest that Kobe Bryant(notes) wasn't using the usual, hateful, meaning behind a homophobic slur that starts with an "f" and ends with those who are mindful of the pain and suffering that the LGBT community has gone through cringing as we hear it.
Before we get to the specifics, here is Bryant's statement on the incident:
"What I said last night should not be taken literally. My actions were out of frustration during the heat of the game, period. The words expressed do NOT reflect my feelings towards the gay and lesbian communities and were NOT meant to offend anyone."
We know, Kobe. That's not the point.
Bryant apparently called referee Bennie Adams a "f*****" following both a personal and technical foul call that didn't go Kobe's way on Tuesday night (the video can be seen here), and Bryant has been rightfully excoriated for it. The league is investigating the tape, and the (needed) discussion is out in the open.
And the discussion should end here. He shouldn't have said it on Tuesday night, he shouldn't be saying the word away from cameras, and he shouldn't ever say it again. Doesn't matter, no excuses, I don't want to hear it. There are hundreds of individual curse words to use in that situation, don't use that one. We know he wasn't trying to question Adams' sexuality, or align being gay with negative connotations. It still doesn't give you license to shout that word.

Sometimes it’s just a perjoritive that says weak, lame, etc.

Homo groups and the NBA need to get a life!! Yeah, he said it, SO WHAT..he said it in anger after being screwed over by the refs. I watched the entire game last night and didn’t even hear him say it..most people did not, but ya know how it is, it takes one person to hear it, youtube it, and the rest is history. Of course these same groups don’t make a fuss when KG or others say it, but when Kobe does it the world’s coming to an end

LOL, that's not the point, because the only penalty gays accept for being offended is death - political death, social death, financial death, legal death, and, if they can get away with it, physical death.
And why? No, not because they are homosexuals. But because they are Selected Whipping Points (SWP) for Leftists. And so their money, and their political adivsors, and their war room strategists in the Democrat Party, whip them on and on and on, more and more and more, forever. It's easy to create a totalitarian country - just spend a few generations teaching select groups that anyone who differs with them deserves totalitarian destruction, and they'll end up voting for the political party that guarantees the most totalitarian lockdowns.
And they'll believe - they'll actually believe, right up to the moment the government bullet inevitably hits them, that they are exempt.

The word homophobic is a fascist slur against anyone who does not follow the fascist left-wing perverted morality. The word has no other meaning at all and is a made up word which first appeared in Screw magazine. There is no medical condition related to viewing homosexuality as a corruption of natural human sexuality.
This writer should be held accountable for her hateful use of a fascist slur.
