I'm embarrassed to say I'm not sure who was playing lead (too early for Blackmore, I think)...but Deep Purple's "Hey Joe" way-back-when was way ahead of it's time, and featured a killer lead guitar.

Also, can't forget Mark Farner blasting away on "Inside Looking Out" on Grand Funk's live album.

Er...am I showing my age here?

Also Bill Nelson of Bebop Deluxe “Crying To The Sky” off the “Sunburst Finish” LP. I also recommend This LP’s cover art. Not for any purient interest, It’s art don’t you know.

I used to have the Pulse concert on Laserdisc and picked it up on DVD a couple years ago. Comfortably Numb STILL causes my eyes to water up a bit. Any time music hits me strong on an emotional level I give it a very high score.

You need to check out his solo work. He’s been a prolific musician. Can play pretty much any style.

He plays all the instruments he uses. Piano. Drums. Guitar. everything.

I always detested the Eagles.

He was referring to Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden.

Feh. Late to the thread as usual.

I'd have to give the edge to Agora (The Marketplace) from The Master and the Musician or The Reunion from The Wind And The Wheat.

Or of course, this little ditty.

I saw him do that piece using the E-bow live over 30 years ago.

Truly a legend before his time.

Cheers!
