I gotta go play my Made In Japan CD. I have the album as well although it is probably unplayable now.

Play “Child In Time” and “Lazy” for me! The live guitar solos recorded in 1972-I think- without the heavy electronic crap they use today are amazing!

There’s only so much you can do, in different keys and octaves, before everything sounds the same.

Can’t erase something that’s already been made.

Is guitar rock dying? Was there just a limited amount of good riffs, and they all got used up in the 60s and 70s

no. Metal just makes it sound that way.

I hope you don't mean all metal. There's so much good stuff out there it'll take a very, very long time to go through it all.

Yeah, I was late getting turned on to Rainbow and Deep Purple, so my favorite song of Blackmore and Co. is "Can't Happen Here". I'd sure like an opportunity to see it played live.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Right on brother! Blackmore was in his prime at that time as was the band in general.

Happy birthday Ritchie! Still hoping for a Rainbow reunion, but I’m not holding my breath.

I was listening to a hard rock radio show a few weeks ago, and a guy called in and claimed to live in the same town as Blackmore. He said that he sometimes sees Blackmore in his local supermarket. Of course, I have no idea if he was telling the truth, but the story was intriguing. Can you imagine doing your grocery shopping and all of a sudden you see Ritchie Blackmore in the produce aisle picking out zucchini? It would freak me out.

I ain’t holding it either. I’ve heard he can be fairly decent with his fans as long as you are respectful and not too pushy. I’d like to see what beer or ale he bought!

Ah...Deep Purple was one of my first concert experiences.
It was at Cobo Hall, in Detroit, in 1974. It was just after they recorded “Made in Japan”. That black Strat probably was one of the biggest influences why I took up guitar. He would fling it over ten feet in the air during his solos. Unbelievable.

Yeah, he inspired me to play as well, although it took me many years to finally get serious. And I remember the Black Strat- my first electric was a Black Strat and I just ordered a Ritchie Blackmore Strat from Guitar Center-I hope it’s OK cause it’s Mexican but it got good reviews and I have 30 days to return it.

“Still hoping for a Rainbow reunion, but I’m not holding my breath.”

Without Ronnie James Dio, why bother?

The guitar should be fine. I’ve owned an MIM Standard Strat since 1997 and have been quite happy with it. The only thing it needed was better pickups, and I took care of that with a set of Texas Specials.

Good point, but a reunion with Joe Lynn Turner would still be pretty cool.
