HBO has some shows that seem to be done on the cheap, like "True Blood". But they have some others that have enormous production values, like "Boardwalk Empire" and now this.
It's too bad the Ayn Rand novel didn't get this kind of treatment. It would have worked much better as a miniseries like this, rather than a theatrical movie.
I thought it was pretty good, myself. But then again, I like Sean Bean.
I was intrigued by the premiere. I was also a bit miffed about needing a score card to memorize the names of all these characters and cities and territories. I will continue to watch Game of Thrones. It would help to have an intro, in the style of the Lord of the Rings movies.
I caught the show just by chance and like it. I’m hooked!
I liked the premiere, and will continue to watch. And I’m delighted to know that Boardwalk Empire will return.
I hardly think the comparison is valid. Those shows have no sets to speak of.
I didn’t understand what was going on and even the exposed flesh made me yawn. Filming done mainly at night and in daylight with strong filters bores the snot out of me. I am not interested but I know that there is a huge game playing audience out there and this is but another offering to those fans.
The 1st episode was good but not great, still, most of great stuff from the books happen later and hopefully the show can pack the same emotional impact as the books.
If you want to have any hope of enjoying this series, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, watch the appr. 10 min introductory film with interviews of the cast, producers, etc.
A greater collection of stupidity and stupid statements I have seldom seen/heard.
