Police say there’s been an increase of graffiti and vandalism around a Los Angeles museum that has opened an exhibit on the work of taggers and street artists.

Everyone of these shiite holes could be burned to the ground and the world of real art would never know the difference.
Los Angeles has 14 miles of non-stop gang graffiti, which has none of the appeal, imagination or character of ‘street graffiti’. The hispanic gangsters in residence are likely stupid enough to imagine the graffiti display at the museum was other gangsters tagging ‘their’ territory
NEA will provide the grant.
There will also be grief counselors needed to console the “artists” who had their art disrepected.
City workers will need overtime pay to clean up the mess.
When you legitimize graffiti, indeed when you fund graffiti, you get more of it. MOCA should not complain, they are getting ART for free!
It’s hard to find a surface here that is not tagged up. I wonder what the cost of cleanup and restoration is?
On the other hand, can I get a grant if I go out and buy a half-dozen rattlecans?

Seriously though, some grafitti does qualify as art far more than most of the stuff you find at any modern art museum. Some of these grafitti artists truly deserve the title “artist.” It’s the mindless tagging that’s an eyesore.
What about the urine (and worse) that makes your feet stick to the pavement, is that special?
ALL of “artists” who are caught defacing public works or private property should be shot dead on the spot.
Just my opinion of course.
Long ago, some LA businesses were hiring the better grafitti artists to paint grafitti-style murals on their buildings. Some of them were quite impressive. At least back then, other artists and the taggers would have enough respect not to deface the art. Nowdays nobody gives a damn, and they’d tag their grandmother if she sat still too long.
I hate graffiti, and I would send anybody caught doing grafitti on a one-way trip to Gitmo.
And I thought I was hardcore.
Taggers. Scum with no redeeming value whatsoever. There used to be some respect for the genuine grafitti artists.
