If it has that shoulder thing that flips up, and maybe a bayonet, then it might be an assault weapon.
Another way to tell is to show a picture of one to a Democrat. If they p*ss themselves, then it's an assault weapon.

Only in nonsensical terms. Someone unfamiliar with the finer details of gun design would be totally unable to distinguish a legal (under the AWB) gun from an illegal one.
